If the NFL were at all smart, they would just say: “This is over. We’re done. Five game suspension for any player who disrespects the national anthem. Take it up with your coach. If the team has a problem enforcing this, that’s $10M fine, right there. We’re done with this.”
The NFL needs to make all players watch the Smithsonian channel 911 documentary. It makes you so mad that these spoiled brat players can act like that after watching the whole day in intimate detail via this documentary. It’s an excellent documentary. Highly recommend.
I do not understand how the NFL can allow the players to “protest” on company time, while in uniform.
If the players wish to protest, they should do it on their own private time, when they are not “working”, otherwise they represent the team during game time.
People who actually work for a living would not be able to get away with this farce.
I’d rather have the NFL follow the example set by the Cowboys’ owner - strict discipline with respect to the anthem.
Even if it would result in Cleveland being unable to field a team.
Goodell could have nipped this in the bud by stating that nobody has freedom of speech on the job. If a waiter at a steakhouse showed up in a “meat is murder” shirt and started criticizing customers for ordering steak, he would be fired. Goodell should have said players have freedom of speech when on their own time, but not while on their team’s time.
The real problem is that business leaders and politicians are scared of blacks. They know that if they cross them, there will be protests at the least or possibly riots.
