The entire Florida Peninsula has begun to experience Hurricane Irma following landfall at Marco Island. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Prayers for all in the storm path.

Sounds horrible.
Would you like to save 15% off your funeral costs...?
Glad to see all Physically ok
I’m just hoping you’ve gotten some sleep. Keep us posted when able.
Aiken County, SC here. Just checking in.
Lots of wind and rain.
Reminds me of Matthew.
Momentary power failures: One last night (UPS on computer beeping woke me up), three since 8:00AM today.
Numerous power sags.
No damage out here in the country as far as I know.
Praying for the best for everybody. Stay safe!
On a brighter note, all nine of the ‘dintdonuffins’ in the bottom pic were caught, arrested and charged. I’m reasonably sure that they didn’t get to keep ‘their’ shoes!

Jacksonville, Florida, authorities are telling residents near the St. Johns river to leave quickly as floodwaters rise.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office warned people in evacuation zones A and B along the St. Johns River to "Get out NOW."
They say river is at historic flood levels and likely to get worse at high tide around 2 p.m.
On its Facebook page, the sheriff's office told those who need help evacuating to "put a white flag in front of your house. A t-shirt, anything white."
Rescue teams were ready to deploy.
So glad to see all the many Freepers checking in with reports that they are safe. No doubt cleanup and repairs will be substantial...and for many the storm’s not over yet...but there is much to be thankful for.
My favorite resort on Lido Key has dropped prices by $200+.
Yes! And thank you for prayers. Much appreciated.
Have you ever considered getting a generator before hurricane season?
Sure. But living on the coast, our worst threat is storm surge. Generator not useful then.
I heard Key West was okay all thing considered.
My family in central Florida was hit hard too. One niece got flooded. She is the eternal optimist and said that she’s always wanted a lake view. Not kidding. Her basic yard before has turned into a lake. If I had time I could post a photo, but still looking for gas, ice, and how to get to those places for my brother who has no power. All they have are texts and limited phone calls to conserve battery power. Maybe later I can do the photo post of her back yard. Seriously, it’s a beautiful lake scene now. Too bad it’s into her home.
While I still have my privacy concerns regarding surveillance cameras all over the place in public spaces, it is nice to see them put to good use in these situations.
May future would-be looters be dissuaded as a result.
Here in Jacksonville we’re doing ok...I and doggie slept through it all. ha.
NautiNurse...THANK YOU SO MUCH..!
Even non Freepers were able to get your info and help.
Such hype lord almighty
Florida is and has been pretty much my second state in my life
After speaking to friends who rode this out in
Fort Lauderdale
Naples
Marathon
Key Largo
Cortez
All are fine and all agree media especially the weather channel and FOX overhyped the snot out of this
My Largo buddy threw is shoe at his iPad when the weather channel said it was comparable to Andrew
He lived Andrew at ground zero
He said it was one third Andrew
The media is ridiculous
Is that just them, or is the trend a common strategy to re-ignite tourism after a big “blow”?
If it’s a widespread thing, this October (after The Great Florida Yard Clean-Up) could be a good time for folks to come for a visit. See the place all freshly hosed out clean and shiny...
So Florida did not capsize? Based on some of the reports, I thought that it was going to happen.
