The entire Florida Peninsula has begun to experience Hurricane Irma following landfall at Marco Island. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Prayers for all in the storm path.

There’s a video on youtube from “Hurricane Irma the day after - Siesta Key and Turtle Beach”. Street flooding and some things blown around but not bad.
Your local report is much appreciated—and thanks for the link to the analysis. Very good info.
Gov Scott did aerial tour over JAX this morning. Said they could see where people are trapped and need evac, but they don’t think bridges can handle the weight. Looking at alternative methods.
Great info—glad to know the cavalry is coming to help FL get back on its feet. Thank you!

Tsk tsk tsk. Cut the snark, keep it informational per the OP, who admittedly has issues in this regard as well.
Starting tonight the Linemen will be sleeping in Tents.Yuk.
Don’t even go there. You are the worst offender for posting nothing but snarky comparisons to other storms. You are the worst case of troll bait. Since you have no conscience or shame— Let’s make an agreement—you stay here, and I’ll start a new thread, or you start a new thread so that I can stay here. WHich is it?
I feel for them. Temps today 87+, tomorrow 89+. 100% humidity. We are appreciate of their hard work!
I’ve been completely level headed and rational, I’ve not gotten personal at all.
You do what you feel you need to do. I’ll continue to respond to the personal attacks, whether from you or anyone else.
It’s honestly bizarre, how very upsetting any opinion differing from the consensus regarding something as chaotic as weather can be for you and several others.
Hope you’ll learn to cut the personal attacks, but from the looks of things, you won’t and that’s too bad. It’s really marred what should have been a very useful thread.
Maybe you should consider handing the mantle over to someone else, since it appears that you no longer enjoy doing this.
Answer my question--will you start a new thread for your opinions, or will I need to leave this thread and start a new one for post-storm info, while you stay here with your opinions? One or the other. Make a choice.
A weather forecast is an opinion.
You do what you feel you need to do.
Does that mean that if I start a new thread, you will troll over there too? Or do you intend to stay here? Which?
Cut the snark and the personal attacks and I won’t revisit this thread. Do the same on a new one, I won’t visit that one. Learn some manners, treat participants in your thread decently. That is the lesson here, do that and I’m gone because you’ve been no walk in the park yourself, here.
So which is it, polite, professional and informational sans the stupid snark? Can you do this? Great!
In other words leave me out of it and I’m out of it. Sounds easy enough for me, but can you manage?
Here’s a cross section of flood and damage...67 photos in Duval County Jacksonville Florida.....
The NHC forecast tracked showed a eyewall hit on Cuba, basically the Cuban Keys. But their discussion said they thought that would not weaken Irma. They were wrong about that even though their predicted track was correct.
356 residents rescued from Hurricane Irma flooding in Jacksonville.....It was a sight to be seen, Curry said of the rescue effort...............The mayor took a flight around Northeast Florida with Gov. Rick Scott to assess damage Tuesday. ... flooding was obviously still a problem throughout the area, but officials are working to alleviate any issues for residents.

I probably posted this link in thread I or II, but I’m posting it again for folks just now getting back to flooded homes & per your pictures, there are plenty of folks in that situaton:

Bad, but it doesn’t look nearly as bad as it was a few weeks ago in Houston.
