The entire Florida Peninsula and points north are poised to experience Hurricane Irma after the storm hugged Cuba's northern coastline. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Hurricane Irma's prolonged interaction with Cuba diminished its strength to Category 3.
Irma is forecast to increase in strength as it crosses the FL Straits. The Florida Keys experienced strong outer bands while Irma grazed the N Cuba coastline.

Ankle deep. Plus waves. At the island’s highest point.
Thanks for that link. Yep. That appears to be what I saw. Will read about this tonight. Took forever to download. Have a nice night. Trochoidal Oscillation.
My cousin didn’t lose his dog...his dog died about 3 weeks ago. He lived on his boat and just travels around (we are NOT talking a yacht, just an old boat). He texted this morning letting us know what he was planning on doing. Have not heard from him since.
Hence, prayers would be appreciated for Tim on Key West.
Get lost, hoser. You made a jackass post and now making excuses for doing such. Apologize without conditions, learn from it, and move on. Ignorance is not a respected state on FR.
You bring that Russian crap over here I will drown you out with a Trump Hurricane. Sit down and shut up. We discuss relevant issues that does not concern DC.
Do you have the authority to tell me to leave? Really?
God give Tim the grace to find his way through this. And all the other poor souls on the Keys tonight.
Prayers for Tim and all
And for his pup
Amen.
No but you should have the good grace to admit you were an uninformed jackass instead of whining when you are called out for such. Heck you can’t even keep your own storyline straight, as I have pointed out.
That’s some gorgeous flying, considering the conditions.
Tell him to land his boat if you can. He stands a good chance on shore. He can get another boat. God works that way.
I know what I speak of. Get him off that boat.
Have already started those for your Cousin.
Maybe a dumb question here. Please don’t flame.
Considering a hurricane gets its energy from water, does the time of day play into whether a hurricane would be stronger? For example, if right now were 2:30PM in the afternoon, would this hurricane be worse because of the heat of the day?
Stop messing up this thread.
It really varies. Some storms, such as Wilma and Opal, underwent major intensification overnight. You can Google ‘Hurricanes dirunal’ if you want to glaze your eyes over on the subject.
Sorry, I will call out trolls when I see them. Especially unrepentant ones.
The Keys are going under. I hope the bridge holds up. This storm is quite difficult.
