Youtube geeks have been going wild over record breaking solar flares and coronal mass ejections that happened starting about 2 days ago. They have predicted today and tomorrow would be prime time for massive earthquakes. That was before another CME/flare today (that one will take a few days to arrive). These are from massive sunspots currently facing earth. Just sayin’

Not sure “geeks” is the right word to describe anyone loony enough to think there’s any possible link between solar flares and earthquakes.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)

Yes they claim the big quake off fukushima Japan followed a CME and we are experiencing a large geomagnetic storm today

That's ridiculous. The sun has no effect on climate or the planet. The only possible explanation is the number of gringos in Cancun.

I’ve been following scientists that are saying that we are in the early stages of a Grand Solar Minimum. Sun is throwing off flares as it winds down in the next minimum cycle. I’m no scientist - just a curious old lady - but it sounds like a repeat of what happened during several of the last solar minimums during the middle ages and the late 1700’s/early 1800’s. Earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanoes. Still, a natural and cyclical event. Also colder temperatures.

When will today’s CME arrive at earth?

There was an X class solar eruption that was Earth facing on September 4. Guys I occasionally follow on You Tube were talking about it. There’s a pretty strong correlation between CME’s and earthquakes and volcanic activity. Interesting stuff.
