We’re about 3-4 miles from St Jon’s river & we don’t live in a flood plain or an evacuation area.

While I hate all the noise a hurricane makes I’m not worried about Irma harming our neighborhood.

Somebody is going to get hammered with a track along the spine of the state. Just hope it’s not us. We have a newish build home so hopefully that will help. Some of these older properties with older homes and mobile homes could get cleaned out. This area is gentrifying rapidly. Irma will probably help that along, unfortunately.

I figure we will get hit with CAT2 winds if Irma comes right up the middle of the state.

Our house is a very low to the ground stone bungalow as are the majority of homes in our neighborhood. It was built in 1950 so it’s survived all manner of hurricanes over the years. During Matthew last year our power stayed on the whole time. Hopefully this storm will be the same in that regard.

I’m prepared either way.

Stay safe!
