I do NOT back Trump when he does something sinister or odious. Sometimes I think that he is playing all us supporters for chumps. After all, years ago, he told Whoopi that he would run as a Republican b/c we are STUPID. No thanks! I refuse to become a Drone for Trump.

Cut back on the caffeine and buck up. Pres. Trump has already given us a great Supreme Court Justice,

I remember pundits bragging about Bush appointing SCOTUS Roberts.

>> the LAST thing you want to see in Washington is Donald Trump in the White House and Democrats controlling both Houses of Congress <<

The way things seem to be trending, I worry that when we wake up on the Wednesday morning right after the November 2018 election, maybe the FIRST thing we'll see is a big Dhimmi victory that will hand 'em not only the House but also the Senate.

And as I read the posts on this thread, it seems that many FReepers would love to see exactly that outcome. It looks as if cutting off our noses to spite our faces is an over-arching goal for some among us.

Therefore, let's get ready for 100% socialized medicine, huge cuts to the military, confiscatory tax rates on the middle class, a re-invigorated EPA, new firearms restrictions and amnesty for illegals -- all in exchange perhaps for a big, beautiful wall on the southern border.

That's not news. I was actually alarmed at the number of people here on FreeRepublic were posting messages last November claiming that they voted for Trump but didn't vote for in their House or Senate election.

I'm a big fan of Donald Trump, but I'm also practical and honest enough to recognize some obvious flaws in him. If the Democrats controlled the House and Senate and they put a single-payer health care bill on his desk, he'd sign it faster than he could say: "Make America Great Again!"

I do not believe he is doing anything of the sort. I think the mere fact that Ryan and McConnell, arch-oppositionists, disagree with him here, he is doing the right thing. We don’t know everything about why he does what he does and right now, I give him the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah, Schumer and Piglosi are the good guys.

Trump agreed with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to fund the government for just three months and temporarily raise the debt ceiling, which is due to reach its limit on September 30. Republican leaders wanted an extension through the 2018 election with fiscal reforms attached. Then Trump invited vulnerable Democrat Sen. Heidi Heitkamp to ride Air Force One and campaign with him in North Dakota.
According to leftist Politico, “Republicans left the Oval Office Wednesday stunned,” while “Democrats were gleeful.” Understandable.
Trump’s flip-flop on the debt ceiling goes against his campaign promise to bring an end to the fiscal chaos that has left the government with a $20 trillion debt. It also puts into jeopardy any leverage Republicans had in crafting a long-term debt solution and pushing the remainder of their legislative agenda for 2017. The Wall Street Journal explains, “Republicans will now have to take at least two difficult votes to raise the debt ceiling, while Democratic leverage will increase when the day of reckoning comes.”

There's the answer right there. Instead of DOING THEIR JOB and passing a budget and taking a political risk the Republicans wanted to punt it down the road until AFTER the midterms so they could continue to do nothing. The Dems were only TOO gleeful to MAKE them take the political risk OR have to revisit this whole deal in just 3 months.

Trump said "Screw your republican agenda of not taking risks and staying fat dumb and happy. Do your fricking jobs and start working for the American people or your easy re-elections are over."

The REpublican leadership IS the devil you don't know refusing to work with Trump to implement the agenda that got him elected. They ARE the ones standing in the way.

We’ll have to disagree. Barack Hussein Obama was the adored leader of the RAT party. Are you saying that Trump is the devil too?

Nope. But the GOP leadership wants nothing to do with the American people or the Trump agenda. They dont want America to be first in any sense of the word. Trump has figured that out. Nothing in his agenda that includes legislation by congress is going to get passed. The wall is a no-brainer. If the Republican congress passes that they could run on it for years. Same with Obamacare repeal. It's not that they CAN'T...it's that they WON'T.

Trump see's the that Republican congress is the roadblock to America. So he's making them feel the heat. Why won't they pass a budget??? Because it's too politically "Risky" for them. They want 18 months and then (maybe) they'll pass a budget. But in reality they'll just keep spending and kicking the can down the road. Trump says "You've got 3 months. Suffer the political heat again in 3 months or do something. "

No. They are not the good guys. Neither are Ryan and McConnell who were all set to sacrifice Texans to screw Trump - AGAIN.

But he has learned how to deal with snakes.

Not sure I know all their motivations. What I know is Trump could rescind DACA since it was an Obama executive order. He should do it now since delaying it 6 months gives the RATS time to assemble legislation to allow the extension of the stay for illegal aliens. Notice how they call these criminals “Dreamers.”

So we should get action on the corporate tax cuts in the next 90 days? I hope so, as this is the basis of the Trump rally in the markets, consumer confidence, companies choosing to relocate in the US, ect....

That would be nice to boost the economy some more. Trump’s plan cuts the cooperate tax rate by almost 60%.
