Top congressional Democrats said after a closed-door meeting at the White House on Wednesday that President Trump has agreed to fund the government and raise the debt ceiling through December 15 — despite a statement from Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) earlier in the day calling the idea "ridiculous."
"In the meeting, the President and Congressional leadership agreed to pass aid for Harvey, an extension of the debt limit, and a continuing resolution both to December 15, all together," Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said in a joint statement.
The announcement comes after Pelosi, Schumer, Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) met with Trump at the White House to discuss the fall agenda.
The deal, if it clears Congress, would set up a end-of-the-year cliff on both funding the government and the debt ceiling.

Methinks the article's author left out updating various tax schedules such as the AMT as well, since it will be used a bludgeon to force Trump to cave in on raising the debt ceiling...
I’m not so sure. It’s a 3 month kick the can and includes Harvey relief - in against the debt limit increase but I can live with 3 months.
What were Ryan and McConnell going to do? They didn’t even have legislation on the table for a very shortened session and they’re the party in power. The GOPe made this bed - let them sleep in it.
Here we go again with punting to Christmas to hide everything in a Crimenibus bill at the end of the year.

F Ryan. It might not be too popular here, but I hope Trump does not lift a finger to help the green lamp Republicans with their debt hysteria. Yes, by all means cut everything in the budget that’s not necessary, but the overall level of debt in my view is minor concern relative to the illegal alien invasion, Black Lives Matter/Antifa domestic terrorism, and ISIS Islamofascism.

right decision. Ryan and Mitch need competition and of Nancy and Chuck are finally willing to work with Trump then he should use them and ultimately start putting some real pressure on the two cucks. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I would rather Democrats leading Congress if they would get off the impeachment crap. The Republicans are awful and they need to be reduced to nothing. Trump could get infrastructure and Tax Reform with the Democrats, he’ll get nothing as long as the Repukes are in power. 3 Months is nothing, Trump should work on getting the wall and then destroying the Republican party for 2018 (If he can’t get the Primary wins that are needed)

My guess isn’t Trump did this to expedite Harvey relief and to fire a warning shot over the bow of the GOPe. The actual bill still has to be done before Christmas.
This also prevents Ryan and McConnell from trying to ramrod a shoddy bill asap removing the “we didn’t have time” excuse and gives them more time to negotiate DACA... or not...
