I have to say I was really shocked to see a lot of leftists come out against antifa (though of course not all-- Elizabeth Edwards). I'm shocked because the left always embraces and protects its extremists, no matter what they do (for example black lives matter thugs). This is the only time I have seen them do this, so what's the deal?
They haven’t. Until we see mass arrests there is no indication they are serious. This is lip service which will stop as soon as they need the unrest again.
The next step will be to try and paint Auntie Fa as right wing.
Deniability. That’s all.
A few Dems may not yet realize their party is the Soros party, so a little deniability is in order. But antifa/BLM/et all are DNC’s good squads. Most Dems are fine with it as long as they are beating up Repubs or anyone who can be accused of being a Repub.

Because it was not helping them and actually turns out to be a threat to them as well.
Antifa became prominent because the Democrats lost the election and weren’t controlling the agenda. If Hillary had won, she’d be promoting her own agenda and we would never have heard of them. Now the party leadership wants to reclaim the limelight and the initiative, and even outlets that gave antifa attention earlier recognize that the group’s tactics are likely to turn people against them and against the left as a whole.
There usefulness has expired.
But fear not for they will be reincarnated.

There is no freedom to destroy other people’s property or to assault people.
They realized that ordinary non-commie, non-ultra-left, non-Islamophile, non-maniacs were starting to see the truth of what I often say: that there is nothing left of the old extreme left that is extreme to them any more.
The DNC was being revealed as a hive of scum and villainy and the media has been slowly reinforcing that fact rather than covering it up.
But the genie is out of the bottle. Leftists that I had previously considered capable of rational thought have started skipping like a proverbial record where the needle is filthy and the LP warped. Leftist that previously sounded like that now often come off as deranged.
And I think a lot of it has to do with a steadfast refusal to get properly mad that Hillary, ever the crook, had to cheat her way through the nomination process to defeat an even loonier socialist nut than she is (I’m not gonna say he’s more honest than she is, but she certainly has had many, many millions to screw people over about ... plus a mess o’bodies ... to demonstrate that she’s a crook).
They continue to circle the wagons around her and are so invested in it they just may give her the nomination in 2020.
It is nothing if not perfectly consistent with their normal power-seeking. Because even they, with their 78 IQ points, are beginning to see parallels with (most recent example) Occupy Wall St. and the parallels to the 70’s radical Democrat activities. Both of which led to substantial and longlasting Republican gains in all theaters. They can see where this is going and what they themselves ultimately will become associated with. They learned, peering through their own mental fog, that the radicalism of the 0bama era is not one of appeal outside of their bubble. There is nothing ethical or positive about the beginning stages of their shift. They seek power and the brighter ones among them are starting to see that Antifa, a movement they cannot control, isn’t going to get them anything but trouble and has every indication of generating a distinct backlash.
In the short term, they love Antifa because the violence of Antifa appears to be directed against Trump, whom they hate. This is revelatory because they’re just reflexively adopting a very simplistic “enemy of my enemy” strategy, without regard to where Antifa will ultimately lead if the movement grows outside of a small but noisy splinter group.
You’ve got it. They test everything with secret polling and when they realized how shocked people were they dropped Antifa like a hot potato. The Dems thought that their *cute* little trick of ordering the police to stand down while Antifa does its thug work would not be noticed by the public but people have more tools at their disposal today. You can go on youtube and see dozens of videos of Antifa in action and the comment sections inform people of things they may have missed.
The left is trying to stop Trump from ending DACA by showing they have the ability to stop bashing him.
This is all about DACA.

It was invented in the early days of the 20th century because the American Communists realized that another bloody civil war, as required by Revolutionary Communists to upset the social and economic order in order to form the “fair” society based on Labor over Capital (see Marx for details), would not work in a large nation of individualists like the USA. They knew that the revolution would turn back on them really quick and the end would be quite final for Communism in this hemisphere.
So, they got the idea to use social pressure and a lot of patience to “progress” Americans towards collectivism. They did not set a deadline. They merely set an agenda and stuck to it for a century. They gained control of the media after WW2 by appealing to the “anti-fascist” feelings of the studio executives. They gained control of the universities from the start because college professors are the best Marxist cheerleaders.
But, then Antifa shows up (remember that it has existed since 1920 as the Revolutionary Communist organizations in every European nation). They are Bolsheviks, Revolutionary Communists. The Progressives are shocked to find that their century of patience and the “Nudge” was coming apart by these animals who want the bloody revolution, and they want it AFTER Americans spent 8 years accumulating more weapons and small arms ammo than all the armies of the Earth combined.
So, they have a real interest in seeing Antifa go away, really fast because once the shooting starts, we will not care who was a Progressive and who was a Bolshevik.
They can disown antifa because antifa will just change it’s name (again).

They really didn’t. It is just a PR move.
They didn’t take into account that right-wingers would get video of all the violence and hate exhibited by antifa, and show it to all their moderate and slight-left friends and relatives, and these people would be repelled by the commies.
Not really seeing any mass rejection from leading liberal leaders. Just lip service because they are getting whopped in the polls and in the pocket books. The democratic leadership has great love for ANTIFA and like minded groups. It harkens them back to their glory days of the 1960s.
IF you actually believe the left, the Democrats have rejected Antifa they have succeeded.
It’s a tactic. Never believe the unbelievable when it comes to a Democrat. Believe me it’s believable.
Terry McAuliffe, 2020 frontrunner, nuked himself outta the race with his C-ville backfire and has to be replaced, hence the Antifa sudden snub.
