I planted some Florida longleaf pines here many years ago, and they were some fine specimens, growing up to 40 feet in only 15 years. Unfortunately, last year’s drought weakened them and the pine beetles got three of four trees. Cut them down and was going to use the poles for building projects... Found them full of grub tunnels and I’m not going to use them as I don’t know how structurally damaged they are... As I was debarking and examining them, I was reminded of the NORKs tunnels in the mountains of the DMZ... Tough to dig the bastards out.

Nobody wants that, with me at the top of the list. (having seen way too many military funerals in the past decade) however, I love the "air-drop ordnance" developments, with laser guided accuracy and ground penetration technology. We need our troops supporting the pilots and aircraft, not face to face with the enemy and absorbing rounds and shrapnel.

True, but we can probably seal them in there, or at least keep them damn busy digging themselves out. When the B52s were bombing hell out of the Taliban in Afghanistan, they spoke of the rocks, boulders and dirt raining down on the entrenched enemy...burying them.
