They could have ended it the first time...You stay in the locker room until the National Anthem is over..or else
If the NFL owners hired Roger Goodell to destroy the league they couldn’t have picked a better guy for the job.
I’m surprised I haven’t seen reports of fights between pro- and anti-”sitting-during-the-anthem” fans. One of these days I expect to see an Antifa-type brawl in the stands.
Hope it does. Soccer too. Both are incredibly boring any more and the PC has ruined it.
While we are at it, let the anti-Christian ESPN and its parent Disney CronyCorp go the way of the dodo too.
One thing the NFL screwed up big time with this last year was when Kapernick started doing is kneel down, the NFL also disallowed the Dallas Cowboys from wearing a patch commemorating the 4 officers killed by the BLM scumbag.
On a side note, when your team is 1-15 the year before the last thing you want to do is piss of your fans this year by kneeling down for the National Anthem. Congratulations Cleveland Browns...
What is happening now is in essence the laws of the jungle, karma, what happens when you are a moral contradiction, when you lose vision of what your primary purpose is.
Instead of the NFL being about FOOTBALL, a number of years ago they decided they’d be a Social Justice Experiment and put their heads into the yoke of Socialism/Marxism. For some preferential treatment, or perhaps responding to liberal blackmail, they’ve sold their souls to the Devil.
You reap what you sow NFL!
This is all on Roger Goodell. Every time he has a choice to make when it comes to player conduct he gets it wrong. Every time. He is clueless. Whether it’s Ray Rice, BountyGate, Tom Brady, Ezekiel Elliott, or flag protests his natural instinct is to make the decision that will come back to bite himself and the NFL in their collective endzones. He can’t help it. He is simply incompetent.
I usually don’t watch the sidelines when the National Anthem is played....BUT this season, I will be looking. ANY team that has a player kneeling, fist raised, turn their back or any other visual....my TV will be changed, and that team will never be watched again.
We don’t need the NFL...but they do need us.
Imagine if they had squashed this when it first happened. Now? Gee, who could have predicted that the problem would spiral out of control?
The NFL is dead to me. When they tell the multi-millionaire infants to stand and salute the flag or get the he!! of the field and team, I may, only may, consider watching a particularly interesting game or two a year.
Pffft!
One other thing, contrast the NFL with how NASCAR treats the National Anthem. I don’t even like NASCAR but I know they and their people respect all the great gifts this country has given them and it shows.
Besides "Whitey, gimme all your stuff" and freely killing each other, does anybody know what "social change" they want?
I haven't heard any of them demanding the things that most people do to succeed in life: get a good education, stay in school, don't do drugs, stay sober, get a good job, show up on time every day, don't have babies out of marriage, denounce violent anti-woman rap crap, respect the police and authority, treat everybody civilly, be polite, call your mother.
A rock and a hard place? Rather an American place and a libtard place.
The NFL is learning the lesson the hard way that appeasement does not work. It is basically a monopoly that lays down stringent rules on even the most minuscule details such as how players can celebrate after TDs (amended this season).
Yet in the name of political correctness, they let one malcontent loser in Colin Kaepernick create a hateful social movement within its ranks that has alienated many of its fans. Guess what, league, conservatives watch more football than pajama boy liberals.
If they laid down the law from the beginning - players will rise for the anthem or risk fines and suspension - they might have gotten flak from the social justice warriors but that’ll have dissipated soon enough.
Instead they tried to appease and that never ever ends well.
The NFL is at the top of the bowl beginning to circle the drain.
The circling has just begun, and it’s slow now, but it will increase in speed as it approaches the drain.
Clueless administration, pandering to the SJW mentality, the concussion problem, outrageous ticket prices and a virtually unlimited number of entertainment alternatives make the NFL’s demise inevitable.
Sports bars refusing to carry NFL games....talk about cutting off your nose. This is just plain idiocy. Who wants a washed up trouble maker who won a total of one game last season. Fact is he is neither wanted nor needed of anything a football team requires!!!
Good article. I predict this will not go well for the left. A large number of nominally conservative or apolitical people are going to realize that “it’s all about the revolution” and there is NO aspect of American life that is immune.
For the left, they will not react well to this, either in supporting politicized institutions, or at the ballot box.
Dear NFL, if you allow players to continue to do this taking a knee BS you will force me to shut the TV off and cease purchasing any products that carry the “proud sponsor of the National Football League.” I refuse to be insulted just to watch “a game.”
Hey, we all make choices...NFL, I would strongly suggest that you make your next choice carefully, or it will most definitely cost you dearly because me and my family are not alone, we will shut the TV off and stop buying any product that carry’s the NFL logo.
Love, retired Navy Chief!!!
Should have nipped this in the bud last pre-season.
Their demise is their own fault.
Much of the blame lies squarely on the back of Roger Goodall and the NFL. The NFL, the once rigid organization that dictated every thread a player wore, turned a blind eye to what Kaepernick was doing. As a direct result the NFL let this situation fester and grow.
At one time in the NFL guys got significant fines for wearing inappropriate head bands. It wasn't until recently that the NFL dictated the maximum length of a guy's hair.
Nope, the NFL wants to be a squishy social laboratory rather than a business. The NFL sat on the train tracks thinking about unicorns and gumdrops while the freight train was barreling down the track. The results are fully predictable. No one wins now, least of all the NFL on the tracks.
