An unidentified reporter approached a man as he began putting his boat into the flooded river that yesterday was an interstate highway. The Independent Journal Review reports he asked the man, “You guys here to help out?” The man responded “Yessir!”
He then asked the man what he “is about to do.” The man responded, “I’m gonna go try to save some lives.” He then went on about his business of doing good for the flood victims in the Houston area.
It appears the reporter was not from Houston, as a Texan would likely have asked, “What are you fixin to do?”
In another video shown on Fox News, a Good Samaritan waded into a flooded roadway to rescue three people in distress.
Former Dallas Quarterback “Dandy Don” Merideth reportedly once said, “Never ask a man if he is from Texas. If he is, he’ll tell you. If he isn’t, don’t embarrass him.”

The Cajun Navy has been on the scene for two days now.
There are so many reasons that evacuation as the go-to policy is a terrible idea.
If everyone in Houston tried to evacuate the city, you’d have tens of thousands of people drowning in their cars.

Well, We don’t really use RIs, but a Section (a square with one-mile legs) is a real measurement. My mother-in-law’s late husband had a small ranch in west Texas that was 2 sections in area. That works out to 1280 acres. Kinda nice spread.
Well I beg to differ. The largest ranch in Texas is the King Ranch which is located over Brooks, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Kleberg, Nueces, and Willacy counties (825,000 acres). It was founded in 1853 by Captain Richard King. The size of the ranch is 106.35% the size of Rhode Island. The 20th largest ranch is the 06 Ranch which is 130,000 acres making it 16.75% of Rhode Island. Interestingly enough The size of total operations of the King Ranch at one time was actually larger than Delaware.
