Hurricane Harvey made landfall near Rockport TX about 10:00PM CDT Friday night. Top sustained winds were 130mph. Rockport High School sustained heavy damage when a portion of the roof collapsed. A senior housing complex collapsed. The Rockport courthouse sustained major damage with a cargo trailer halfway in the building. Multiple tornadoes reported in the Houston/Galveston areas. There are reports of scattered structural fires and a shooting was reported in Corpus Christi. Residents along the San Bernard River were advised to evacuate and most TX Gulf coast counties are under flash flood watches.
Many locations are under a boil-water notice. Power outages are widespread. President Donald Trump promptly granted a Disaster Declaration to Texas Governor Greg Abbotts request. More than 700 members of the Texas Army and Air National Guards, Texas State Guard and the Texas Military Department have been activated and are positioning themselves throughout the state ahead of Hurricane Harvey and its anticipated landfall later this week. Ahead of the storm, FEMA sent supplies from its warehouse in Fort Worth to a staging point at Randolph Air Force Base near San Antonio.

Thread I: Potentially Catastrophic Hurricane Harvey Approaches Texas Gulf Coast
(You know what’s in here)
President Trump will visit TX Tuesday
Was hearing they're going to have 30 more inches of rain...another said as much as 50 inches.....this has already been more than a catastrophic for so many ....tempers will surely wear thin. Even reporters are finding enduring difficult. Heck I'm getting edgy after following this for so long! LOL
Queen Shiela had some kind of press conference which they showed on channel 13 probably about an hour ago. If there’s a camera there, she’s there!
Two days ago, my sister saw a memo from one of HOU’s law firms predicting 100K homes destroyed and 50” rain. Mayor and city reviewed this and buttoned up. I haven’t seen the memo, but I’m seeing it referenced a lot of places.
The memo was debunked as a hoax.
update:
the situation remains critical..the movement of Harvey is key
if it goes east enough the Houston area MAY get a break...and a dry area may moving to the city overnight(at least the west side)
a scenario: if Harvey strengthens out in the Gulf and moves back west south of Houston any Surge(even minor) will just pile on the high water levels....in the flooded areas
Again the Dams west of Houston also are an issue
Debunked yes but eerily coming true.
The key to a good hoax: have a ring of truth
Haven’t seen ANY Sheila Jackson Lee on any local Houston news feeds which is wildly unusual.
I was wondering, thank you.
When Calgary and S. AB flooded in 2013, Samaritan’s Purse (SP) were one of the first NGOs on the scene. They were also the only non-government organization that the Siksika First Nation allowed on the Reserve.
In the end, SP remained on the Reserve for almost two years, co-ordinating both recovery and rebuilding efforts.
My prayers go out to all volunteers and first responders, and to the people of the affected areas of TX.
Tropical Storm Harvey Discussion Number 30
NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL AL092017
400 PM CDT Sun Aug 27 2017
The unprecedented flooding rainfall event continues to unfold over a
large area of southeastern Texas. While Harvey has been moving
slowly eastward or east-southeastward today, bands of heavy rainfall
have continued to form over the northwestern Gulf and train inland
over much of the upper Texas coast and southwestern Louisiana. Storm
total rainfall amounts in the 20-27 inch range are quite common in
the Greater Houston area, and additional rainfall amounts of 15 to
25 inches are expected over the next several days. Rainfall total
could reach 50 inches in some locations, which would be historic
for that area.
Harvey is still producing tropical-storm-force winds, with a recent
observation of 34 kt with a gust to 46 kt at New Braunfels, Texas.
The NHC track guidance is in better agreement showing Harvey moving
just offshore of the Texas coast on Monday, then turning northward
and moving inland over northeastern Texas by 72 hours. All of the
global models show some slight deepening of the system after it
moves over water, but given the lack of an inner core, significant
strengthening is not anticipated. Although a tropical storm watch
has been issued, which may need to be extended eastward along
the upper Texas and southwest Louisiana coast tonight, heavy
rainfall and life-threatening flooding continue to the primary
threats.
Yes you did much good apology tooo! Much appreciated....
Both airports are underwater but I think they hope that will clear for his visit....even if not I tend to think he’ll get there if there’s a way.
Replace that photo with photos of the rescue. Don’t post propaganda here!
They’ve been rescued by air National Guard.
Good!
