Hurricane Harvey made landfall near Rockport TX about 10:00PM CDT Friday night. Top sustained winds were 130mph. Rockport High School sustained heavy damage when a portion of the roof collapsed. A senior housing complex collapsed. The Rockport courthouse sustained major damage with a cargo trailer halfway in the building. Multiple tornadoes reported in the Houston/Galveston areas. There are reports of scattered structural fires and a shooting was reported in Corpus Christi. Residents along the San Bernard River were advised to evacuate and most TX Gulf coast counties are under flash flood watches.
Many locations are under a boil-water notice. Power outages are widespread. President Donald Trump promptly granted a Disaster Declaration to Texas Governor Greg Abbotts request. More than 700 members of the Texas Army and Air National Guards, Texas State Guard and the Texas Military Department have been activated and are positioning themselves throughout the state ahead of Hurricane Harvey and its anticipated landfall later this week. Ahead of the storm, FEMA sent supplies from its warehouse in Fort Worth to a staging point at Randolph Air Force Base near San Antonio.

Thread I: Potentially Catastrophic Hurricane Harvey Approaches Texas Gulf Coast
33.32 inches now at Barker Dam
gauge stuck there too now it seems at 99.37 for the past 90 minutes but unlike Addicks the time is updating.....
very odd...the gauge is either not updating or there is s spillover somewhere
Solid rain in Houston since noon. Not stopping. Need this thing to take off northeastward quickly.
What about 59/69 North? Is that an option?
No reason to have a guage go higher then spill over point.
It appears the system has transitioned to subtropical, and there actually is a large dry air intrusion in the south part of it, but the circulation is still pulling local(?) & low level Gulf moisture over Galveston, Houston, etc., and dumping it.
Spring Creek also crosses that. So it would have to have real high bridges.
rainfall rates are indeed decreasing from the DAMS back upstream as that new deformation band robs moisture ,,,,,,,the last one pushed back west though
1.44 at barker the past 3 hours ....lets
but the spillover point was supposed to be much higher
Must be a new spill over point. Rain has been solid since noon.
The guy from Army Corp was just on. Things don’t sound too good. They are now in a new area, beyond what gov’t planned for. At least that’s how I understood it. If the north end of Addicks goes, it will be in middle of night.
The Addicks gauge for both elevation and time has been stuck at 105 feet for two hours and there have not been any recent readings. The Barker gauge has been stuck at 99.37 feet for two hours but the time has been updated regularly. I believe that for Barker outflow must be about the same as inflow, but I don’t have any explanation for Addicks.
It was nearly dark but the Addicks webcam showed water reflection and it appears to be approaching the top but I can’t estimate the height (it could be 5 feet or 10 feet). What you could see was multistory townhouses or apartments close by and below the reservoir levee.
here is the live feed for the dam updates...you can go back and rewind

Thank you:)
no way outflows are matching inflows..
only 3-3500 lowing out of Barker
You numbers are from Sunday afternoon; the numbers from NOAA’s storm prediction center through this afternoon are considerably higher:

Good catch—the numbers are currently on the NWS website. Totals definitely lower than expected.
As he said about lake houston, this flood will rival the flood of october 94, and that was a record setter.
