Make sure all of your girls get baths/showers hair washed before the storm (and before the koi become roommates). Laundry washed too.

Beyond impressive. Insane. And I live in the cone (but thankfully well inland).

Within 3 hours this system went from having a ragged, open eye to a fully wrapped with deep convection pinhole eye. That is never a good thing.

That was in the title of the article, I did not make it up.
Realistically you don’t want to be anywhere near a hurricane or even a strong storm.

I am fortunate in that I can work from anywhere and I was already working from home just about every day in PA. And as it turns out, my boss is in the Austin office, so I can go in if I need anything.

I wonder if this thing will shut down the oil refineries?Yes--rigs are evacuated along the coast, and there are multiple reports of refineries shutting down.

I seem to recall hearing there are no real steering currents for the storm. This could cause the wide variations in model forecasts, and the lack of appreciable movement following landfall.

Yeah, after landfall, they really have no clue where it goes after that. Which is really scary. Texas has a sorry history of what stalled tropical systems can do.
