POLL: AZ Sen. Jeff Flake Trailing GOP Primary Challenger Kelli Ward By Double Digits

A New poll shows Arizona Senator Jeff Flake is in big trouble, in what might be the toughest political race of his career. AZ Highground reports Flake is trailing Kelli Ward by 14%.

AZ Highground reports:

A statewide Arizona survey of 400 likely Arizona 2018 General Election voters shows Republican incumbent Senator Jeff Flake fourteen points behind his primary Republican opponent Kelli Ward and eight points behind prospective Democratic opponent U.S. Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema (D, AZ-9).

Q. If the primary election for United States Senate were held today, would you vote for [Rotate] Jeff Flake or Kelli Ward?

28.2% Jeff Flake 42.5% Kelli Ward 5.1% Some other candidate 24.2% Don’t know, Refused

Q. If the General Election for United States Senate were held today, would you vote for [Rotate] Jeff Flake or Kyrsten Sinema?

32.5% Jeff Flake 40.5% Kyrsten Sinema 27.0% Don’t know, Refused

The Republican Primary Election sample was of 273 high efficacy Republican and PND/Independent voters and has a margin of error of ±5.93%. The General Election sample of 400 high efficacy general election voters has a margin of error of ±4.88%.

“While Election Day may still be more than a year away, Senator Jeff Flake’s campaign has a lot of work to do to persuade Republican primary voters that his form of principled Republican conservatism can trump the nativist populism that is fueling Republican voters’ antipathy towards Washington insiders. These same Republicans still give the President a 74% approval rating in Arizona,” said Chuck Coughlin, President & CEO of HighGround Public Affairs, which conducted the poll.

“...Open primary state. Like Traitor McCain, his Dem friends will load up the busses and vote in the primary and pull him through, just like Corker did in MS....”

These open primaries should be changed. All they do is encourage even more corruption of the system. This is the only reason McPain has gotten to the Senate so many times....more RATs voting for him in the Open than anyone else. It’s time for a change, Arizona.

Exactly, that’s what I thought!
He sounded rather nicey-nice. Did not really do any Trump bashing.
Hopefully he’s going down.

Long way out until this election becomes of interest to most voters.

Primary: Tuesday 28 August 2018
General Election: Tuesday 6 November 2018

They asked republican voters. It’s an open primary so the Dems can vote for flake. By the way, I love it that spell check doesn’t automatically capitalize flake.

Did I miss it or does the article omit to present poll results for a Ward versus Sinema matchup in the General Election? Hard to imagine doing a poll on this race without gauging Ward’s strength in the General.

The one question I didn’t see asked is a general election contest between Kelli Ward and Kristen Sinema would turn out.

Flake’s unpopularity goes without saying - but it really begs the question as to whether Ward would be a better general election match-up against Sinema.

The problem for any conservative, including Ward is the open primary
system in AZ. Until that primary system is closed to only registered
GOP voters, it will be hard to for a conservative to win the primary.
It is a corrupt primary system in AZ.

Start voting correctly senators or this is you. None of these ass clowns have any clue how to deal with a president Trump coming into their state and campaign for their primary opponent. It just has never happened in these people lifetimes.

These people are stupid although they can sound rather bright so the sheer panic that is due to set in when they realize president Trump can double triple the turn out in a primary election has yet to manifest. It will begin next week and continue through October -hopefully president Trump forces them to pass the budget (which they won't) or shuts down the government. These morons are not ready for Trump during a government shutdown its going to be fun. Don't sign the continuing resolution president Trump.

Senators Trump is going to get the senate he wants and you're not going to be memeber.

The irony of all this is they are trying to get Trump to leave but it them who are signing their own walking papers and will be gone before the president.

Politics has replaced the NFL senators are very very visible these days and reviled. Its all coming together as planned

That’s because he is beholden to his crony capitalist sponsors and his establishment pals, not the voters. Face it, the guy isn’t too bright.

Flake like Heller and others are depending on the RNC to crush the conservative challenger. These people are worse than Democrats:

IF true, this is truly great news. Need to make the margin even bigger, it needs to be YUUUUUUUGGGEEEE!

Every single Senator running in 2018 that's against President Trump needs to be severely rebuked by double-digit losses on their way OUT of office -- especially on the Republican side!

Don’t bet the farm on Ward just yet.

How many sitting senators have ever gotten dumped by their own party in the primaries? VERY FEW.

We have seen similar polls against similar ‘disliked’ Republican Senators that show them losing their primaries. Yet, they manage a miracle on election day.

In most instances, to get rid of a sitting senator, voters had to elect the opposition party candidate in the main election.

Your enemy isn’t dead until you take his scalp.

Look at what they did to that guy in Mississippi (can’t remember his name). Hailey Barbour and the other establishment pigs got Dems to go out and vote for their guy in the primary and another post indicates that crook, villain and snake McConnell, who has money coming out of rectum in campaign funds (check him out in OpenSecrets.com ) is supporting his boy Flake.

I totally agree with you.

Trump has exposed a monster - a RINO/Democrat Cabal in Washington working together to screw America and feed their bottomless pockets!

There wouldn’t be enough support for him to run 3rd party. Conservatives would back Dr. Ward. The left would back the Bi Congresswoman. Flake would be left with the remaining establishment vote.

Chris McDaniel. The primary runoff was where the RINO Establishment flooded it with Democrat voters to install Thad the Barnyard Cad.

That’s what the GOPe want to do! Cause a huge disruption in support for Ward.

All I know is that the current set of traitors (i.e., Cornyn, McLame, Flake, Murkowski, Collins, Linda Grahmnesty, etc...) all need to be OUT OF OFFICE!

At this point, I’m almost willing to vote Democrat to get rid of those useless DASTURBS!!
