Steve Bannon, the figure most frequently touted as the Machiavellian mastermind behind President Donald Trumps connection with his populist base, left the White House late last week.
But his absence has shown no signs of hampering the support Trump enjoys among those core supporters. All indication in the past five days has been that those voters like Trump for Trump and it makes little to no difference who stands beside him inside the White House.
Rhetorically speaking, the presidents marathon address in Phoenix yesterdayin which he bashed the media, coyly suggested hed pardon Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and threatened to shut down the government over long-promised border wall fundingwas peak form. It reminded Trump supporters, after a disappointing Monday night in which the president promised to put more troops on the ground in Afghanistan, about the person they voted for.

Beyond the anecdotal evidence, some early polling from the Trump campaigns top pollster, Tony Fabrizio, also underscores that Trump voters seem not to care that Bannon is out of the White House.
According to polling conducted by his firm, some 29 percent of people in an August survey of 1,500 self-described GOP or GOP leaning voters nationally, viewed Trump more favorably after Bannon was axed and only 6 percent viewed him less favorably. Some 48 percent indicated that it didnt change their opinion at all.

I think Trump cares a lot less about party affiliation than about personalities and who is willing to pass major reforms... To do this is truly “ the art of the deal”
Trump is not focused on the right wing - he's focusing on the right thing
His ideas of “ the right thing” may evolve and change in some areas - like immigration and amnesty. It did on the necessity of keeping a military presence in Afghanistan. But overall he's a good man and is doing what hes doing for Americans . I cant think of a single democrat who comes close. Nor right now, any of the power holders in the GOP
Total self serving
Total establishment pwns
If it was Bannon’s idea to bring Bill Clinton victims to the debate, and bring the media in that room (with no warning), then Bannon is a master of political theater without a peer.
People kvetching about Trump are very ill-informed. And some are ill intentioned...
If you’re worried about who is whispering in Trump’s ear, you must think he’s a man of little integrity, intelligence or will, and can be swayed like a reed in the wind.
That is not who Trump is.
You can now count on no fingers the number of white house aids that actually support the Trump agenda.
You’re an idiot. Bannon leaving is a lose.
Just makes my resolve more steely.
"Illegal immigration is a wrecking ball aimed at U.S. taxpayers. Washington needs to get tough and fight for We the People, not for the special interests who want cheap labor and a minority voting bloc. Every year taxpayers are getting stuck with a $113 billion bill to pay for the costs of illegal immigration.2 Thats a bill we cant afford and wouldnt have to pay if people in Washington did their jobs and upheld our nations laws...."

The Platform we voted for will never be implemented. It’s going to take guillotines to get a WALL.
“Reporters” can’t even refrain from using four letter words. Trump must be living rent free inside their heads.
Bannon was holding steadfastly to Trump’s campaign promises. If Trump does the same’ Trump will do fine without Bannon on staff. If, however, Trump reneges on his campaign promises then he’ll start bleeding support.
We might actually get things done with Bannon gone.
Trump does best when he ignores all his advisers--including Bannon--and simply speaks from the reservoir of his own common sense.
It was my feeling that it was Bannon who told Trump to pull off from going after Hillary, not to mention bringing all these "conservative" goons into these various positions, like Priebus. Based also on what LS reports from conversations with Bannon, I also had the feeling that these fools were simply uninterested in making sure Sessions prioritizes jailing swamp rats. They were all worried about Obamacare and tax cuts, not bringing the fight to the enemy so that, once the enemy is vanquished, we can accomplish all these other things unimpeded.
One last point, for those who do not like me insulting Bannon: Remember that this so-called "Conscience of Trump" had no troubles at all using his weekly polling on Breitbart.com as a scam-front to gathering polling data and user emails just to give to Cruz's analytics groups. You thought you were just expressing who you support from one week to the next. What you were really doing was letting Cruz know how much you were pissing him off, so he could find new ways to brainwash you back into the fold. This wasn't just "early on," but went on for the entirety of the nomination fight. Breitbart also gave Ted Cruz full access to their mailing list, and even used Breitbart letterheads to send unsolicited Cruz recruitment ads to everyone who gave their email to Breitbart. On top of all of this, Breitbart, in their "objective news reporting," reported on numerous occasions that Cruz "never supported H1B increases nor green card expansions," even though Cruz voted for both. Not to mention the entire scam about Cruz "never supporting legalization," even though he did, both during the Gang of Eight fight and afterwards, even as recently as 2015.
So the "conscience of the Trump campaign" is a dirty, filthy lying propagandist, taking money from the Cruz campaign and using their "objective news reporting" to spread complete lies... lies, by the way, that many people on this forum still believe, despite mountains of verification! That is how effective the brainwashing has become!
When Bannon entered the White House, I knew it was a mistake and that it would only be temporary. The only positive side to it was that Breitbart, which had been 50% anti-Trump, and 50% "Trump isn't really a conservative but he's a great American!", was at least nominally on our side and one of the few news sources backing us up.
But with Bannon gone, we've lost a Pro-Trump source, and now we're just going to be hearing from these damn clowns for the next year is every rumor or innuendo about Trump betraying everybody on the border wall.
You can't imagine how annoying this is for someone who has watched Breitbart from the beginning, seen the method to their madness, and understood the ramifications of letting someone like Bannon into the White House. Great for short term help, but Bannon was never going to stop self-aggrandizing or pushing his own brand. Where that brand coincided with our interests, it was good. Where his plans helped further our interests, that was good. But the problem was, and always will be with these people, that their brand is still their brand, their mission is still their mission, and they will always put their own agenda first over America First, guar-un-damn-teed.
+1
Exactly
Bannon was a stalwart conservative. I'm not surprised he was given the boot. But fear not, Ivanka, Jared and McMasters are there looking after our their interests.
Bannon came in really late. Trumps agenda was Trumps.
‘Bannon was a stalwart conservative.’
Are you aware that Bannon was the mastermind behind recruiting Milo Yiannopoulos and giving him nonstop publicity? For a while, a flaming gay man was the face of Breitbart—and it was Bannon’s doing.
Time will tell.
I’m not here to trash Bannon, but let’s not pretend he’s responsible for the Trump phenomenon. He may have been championing ‘the agenda’ prior to Trump throwing his hat into the ring, but so were a lot of people, and to little avail. I see no evidence that Trump got his agenda from Bannon.
All the Bannon’s in the world couldn’t have gotten this revolution off the ground. Trump was the only one able to move things from talk to action.
Thumbs up!
