Reports suggest Abdelbaki Es Satty, the imam thought to have acted as the Barcelona terror attacks mastermind, should have been deported from Spain in 2014 after completing a prison sentence but judges accepted this would breach his human rights.
Various outlets have reported claims by the the Spanish daily newspaper El Mundo that Satty was ordered to leave the country in April 2014 after serving a sentence for drug smuggling, but judges agreed deportation would breach his human rights when he launched a legal appeal.

I know this is Spain, not the US.
But: Suppose he had been deported in 2014. How tough would it have been for him to get back in if he wanted to?
We know that in the US, deportation is just a temporary inconvenience to (as Jeb would say) an act of love.
I guess the human rights of the people killed are not an issue. They should find this Judge and hang him
Sounds familiar.....
Dear spanish judge: you must be bathing in the blood of your victims. I hope they come to “talk” with you.
Dear spanish judge: you must be bathing in the blood of your victims. I hope they come to “talk” with you.
This calls for a police stand down followed by pitchforks and torches.
Do the judges have names and addresses?
“Suppose he had been deported in 2014. How tough would it have been for him to get back in if he wanted to?”
Anything would be a lot more difficult than it was for this terrorist and his friends.
If deported, his presence in the country would be illegal and he would have probably been arrested again.
He had already served time in prison.
The judges should have decided that the countries sovereignty trumped the non-citizen’s, drug smuggling, ex-con’s human rights, because it does.
That being said, the judges need to be thrown in prison, or the most swift and decisive justice the society will allow.
Sensible people knew that judge was a traitor when he gave the order. Today, everyone in the world know the judge sides with evil - just like many activist judges in the United States who just discovered their power to overrule our President on national security questions.
So is there a downside for the judge?
We are doomed. The magnanimity of the Western, Christian-based legal system will prove to be our undoing. We will never remove the barbarians in our midst, who will inevitably overwhelm us.
Suppose he had been deported from Spain in 2014...would Obama have let him into the USA?
Of course.
Over here, taking an impeachment scalp or two every year would suffice.
And, or course, Nothing will be done to the judge who is now an accessory to terrorism.
JoMa
Yeah the government rather protects terrorists then it’s citizens, nothing new in the EU there.
Until judges face consequences for their decisions this will continue. We have the same problem here...
The victims’ families should visit the people responsible and share their pain with them.
