Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett said last week that it would take a white player to kneel for the national anthem to really get things changed. Seth DeValve is testing that belief.
The second-year Browns tight end knelt for The Star-Spangled Banner during Mondays game in Cleveland against the Giants, part of a circle of more than a dozen players who bowed their heads in silent protest.
They were flanked by several more teammates who stood and put their hands on the kneelers shoulders.

“I would go down on one knee to protest that embarrassing excuse for a football team.”
It would be great if, once the game started and the guys were on the field, everyone in the bleachers would stand and turn their backs on the players.
I notice in several of your comments you direct other posters to "lighten up".
You will benefit from following your own unsolicited advice.
Strange; I haven’t called you a single name nor merit one in return but that is what you resort to. “Fascist”, eh? I won’t connect you to Soros or Antifa but that is certainly the type of names they bat around whenever anyone disagrees with them on any issue or they are perceived to do so.
“i never said that i admire them”
You said “that(what they did) is what makes America great” and you attacked those who disagree with what they did.
That certainly sounds like you admire them.
But I do not wish to put words in your mouth.
So, please clarify:
Do you admire those who refuse to stand for the National Anthem? Do you admire those who burn, deface and disrespect the American flag?
Do you admire those who say America is racist, etc?
Do you admire BLM?
Are you upset when people disagree with those who do?
That’s fine. I personally will never spend another dime on anything related to the NFL.
“love the fact that those who pray are not dragged out and shot in those football stadiums, because you are close to advocating that.”
I never said that or anything like that.
Stop making up lies.
You are the one that needs to lighten up.
So is Michelle
This is nuckin’ futs. The NFL has to get control of their stage. It belongs to the league and not to the talent. The word needs to go out that sideline personnel must stand for the national anthem. If you don’t want to stand, you must stay in the tunnels until the anthem is over. That is all. Any on-field disrespect during the anthem will be fined $10,000.
If this doesn't upset Freepers enough to turn off their televisions then there is not much hope.
If you care - turn off your television, turn off your radio, and cancel your newspaper.
Nobody makes any money just by you listening to the radio, but I agree otherwise. Learn how to shoot, learn a martial art, anything to take you away from this.
I am enlightened up, with allowing others the freedom I like to enjoy...
I said it was their right to do what they did, and I admire America for being the place that allows them to do it, instead of trying to force them to do something they do not want to do.
That is what makes America great... your attempts at guilt by association is futile, though I respect their right to protest, but abhor their violence.
Well put, my FRiend. Cheers!
Cheers
Troll
hehehe...
are you?
“I said it was their right to do what they did, and I admire America for being the place that allows them to do it, instead of trying to force them to do something they do not want to do.”
I agree with you. Part of the freedom we enjoy is freedom of expression. There are a lot of things that makes America great. Allowing people to be disrespectful and insulting towards the flag and patriotism is not the most important of these.
This is more than simply freedom of expression. The only reason they enjoy the audience and media coverage that they do is because people are there to watch a football game. The only reason the players enjoy the salaries they do is because people are willing to pay to watch them, buy their merchandise and watch them on TV.
That is the only reason the owners are able to make money off their franchises.
Patriotism and love of country are far more important than the diversion of watching football. If these people want to use their audience to promote their hate America attitudes people should refuse to support the NFL.
“your attempts at guilt by association is futile”
Your original post sounded like you admired these people and their hate America agenda.
I simply asked you to clarify your position so that I could respond appropriately to what your position was.
perhaps one day, the full character of athletics will not only take place on the field, but in the stands as well and then truly symbolize what good, clean, sportsmanship is all about.
but in America, we should never be afraid to speak our minds or concerns. and you are correct, protests not carried by the mainstream media are no protests at all. the media decides the importance or not of these events.
be blessed.
