Dunno. Didn’t count. Not trying to be insulting. It just so happens you articulated as your own, a point on this topic that he formerly made many times.

I didn’t agree when he said it, and I still don’t. Just like I didn’t agree with abandoning Saigon back when. I was just a kid, but I could see we were throwing in the sponge for no other reason than that Democrat shitheads (sorry to be redundant, there) had sabotaged the war for political points with willing help from Hanoi Jane and Walter Cronkite.

For all Trump’s talk of getting out, it seems inconsistent with the rest of what we’ve seen out of Trump for him to be cool with leaving Afghanistan a disaster, or leaving it as a U.S. defeat. I think Trump is thoroughly disgusted with how we’ve blown our win over there, and he’s got the vision and courage to rally, here, late in the game and finally “put it away.”

With commitment and commensurate material we could be DONE over there, with an incontrovertible victory to show for it by next summer, and every last pair of U.S. boots in that hellhole could come home on the wings of the promise that any relapse of ISIS tendencies would invoke the certainty of godlike fire from on high.

We’re sick of Afghanistan for the same reasons we got sick of f’n ‘Nam: political waffling in Washington crippling military operations with ridiculous and deadly encumbrances like Rules of Engagement that all but make our troops sitting ducks, the grotesque transvestiture of a military force with ill-fitting humanitarian directives... in short — non-military political schemers trying to manipulate a war halfway around the world solely for the hope of victory at the polls next go ‘round.

Well, ta Hell with “winning hearts and minds”; blow the ever-lovin’ guts out of the enemy, leave them no fathers, brothers, or sons. Galvanize the collective mind of an entire nation with the vivid, bullet-riddled understanding that alignment with ISIS, al-Qaeda, the Taliban et. al. is a dead end in all senses of the phrase. Punctuate that statement with earth-shattering explosions as necessary to carry the point. It’s hard to frame an opposing argument when a 500lb bomb just made you involuntarily void the contents of your guts from your duodenum on down.

The Koranimals don’t believe we’re at all serious, at this moment, because we’ve just wrapped up 8 years of the Idiot-in-Chief signaling to them all that we’re not. But there’s a new sheriff in town, and reality on the ground in the ‘stans needs to substantively reflect that change. With THAT sort of leadership, I actually believe we CAN get the job done.

My hubby and family were also in nam. That is where my hate of war comes from. If we do as you say below, I am in but we haven’t done this in history. Looks like we will see...
