Mizzou Pays Price for Appeasing the Left
The Wall Street Journal ^ | August 20, 2017 | Jillian Kay Melchior

Timothy Vaughn dutifully cheered the University of Missouri for a decade, sitting in the stands with his swag, two hot dogs and a Diet Coke. He estimates he attended between 60 and 85 athletic events every year—football and basketball games and even tennis matches and gymnastics meets. But after the infamous protests of fall 2015, Missouri lost this die-hard fan.

Same here. I’m a Mizzou alum, and I was a devoted fan. I would travel three hours a couple of times each year for football and basketball games. No more. They lost me and my $$$. I used to buy tons of Mizzou swag - shirts, hats, blankets, stickers, umbrellas, you name it. I now cheer for Mizzou to LOSE, which I never thought I would do.

Also an alum embarrassed by their LIB idiocy. I dropped any affiliation and for years have withheld ANY support in any way. I have adopted Hillsdale in Mich. I laugh at mizzou’s continued “troubles”.

I’m in the opposite camp.

Those ballgames interrupt normal traffic, are crowded, filled with rude and obnoxious people, overpriced, overrated.

I’ll tune the idiot box to just about anything else or off and do something useful.

To each, their own.

I worked at USC back in the early 00s for about 18 months.

Never was I a student of the place or any other 4 year establishment. It wasn’t for me.

Anyway, the PHB-ette ALWAYS left a donation form for the university on just my desk. I assume the others donated.

That form went straight into the bin every time without a word. I refused to be extorted.

PHB-ette didn’t apparently take it very well. I didn’t make much, just a little staff guy.

Needless to say my life there was miserable for a whole host of reasons. I left finally and don’t miss the place at all.

They actually pulled certain employees from departments, met with them and tasked them to lean on their co-workers. Mine already knew my stance and said just so you know I asked you and I am reporting you said no. Works for me.

My brother works for a notoriously liberal engineering firm in out area and the company owners wife loves United Way. They were not even asked if they wanted to donate, the HR department took a certain dollar amount from each employees check to be donated to the United Way.

All were afraid to challenge the boss until they got one contrarian who finally said NO you may not take out any charitable donations from my check and if you retaliate I will commence activities to start a union. Amazingly this very liberal company stopped dead in it’s tracks and employees were asked about donations and most said no and it stopped being taken from their checks.

This same very liberal corporation also refused to give their employees any sick/vacation days for many years, if you missed for broken arm, funeral whatever you were docked pay. More do as I say, not as I do leftist.

OK, real question: does he buy a season pass or are some of those events free?

I know what those degrees are. We were with you all the way. We can’t wait to cheer for the Tiger’s opponents. It’s too bad so many innocent students have to pay the price for so many ignorant student’s actions, and the stupid decisions of the administrators.
