The Eclipse Is Racist Because It Fails To Affect Enough Black People, The Atlantic Suggests
The Daily Caller ^ | 08/20/17 | Eric Owens

Posted on 08/21/2017 9:50:58 AM PDT by Enlightened1

The Atlantic, a once-great magazine, has determined that the total eclipse of the sun due to occur on Monday will fail to affect enough black people.

The Atlantic’s very lengthy essay on the failure of the eclipse to occur where a sufficient number of black people reside is entitled “American Blackout.” It clocks in at a remarkable 4,544 words and does not appear to be satire.

Concerning “the Great American Eclipse,” Brooklyn Law School professor Alice Ristroph writes in the rapidly deteriorating magazine, “there live almost no black people” “along most of its path.”

The Atlantic’s longwinded law professor assures readers that “implicit bias of the solar system” is “presumably” not the cause of eclipse’s failure to affect enough black people.

“Still, an eclipse chaser is always tempted to believe that the skies are relaying a message.”

Oregon, where the eclipse will first appear in the continental United States, “is almost entirely white.” “There are very few black Oregonians, and this is not an accident.” It’s totally on purpose in 2017, The Atlantic claims, because the Pacific Northwest state had a “racial exclusion” clause in its original 1857 constitution.

The Atlantic notes that the eclipse will then move toward Wyoming and Idaho, which also have very low populations of black people. (RELATED: Now America’s National Parks Are Racist)

After an extensive discourse criticizing the U.S. Census, The Atlantic tells readers that the eclipse will travel through Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and Missouri. In this section of its essay, The Atlantic manages to drop the names of Bruce Springsteen, Jesse James, Eminem, Chelsea Manning, Michael Brown and Howard Zinn (a shallow socialist writer panned even by most serious socialists).

Most eclipses happen over water. Eclipses really hate landlubbers.

Actually global warming. See, global warming caused the Earth to expand like a balloon pushing the moon out of its orbit so that it’d wind up crossing the sun in other than black neighborhoods thereby being the cause of racism.

The a-holes on the Left don’t get it: America was SICK AND TIRED of the 24/7 get-whitey policies of Obama...it’s no different now that Donald Trump is President.

That’s OK. When I was an undergrad, there was a huge kerfluffle duly reported in the student newspaper. Seems they had advertised a scholarly lecture which was going to be given by an astronomy professor, entitled “The Excitability of Black Holes”. That is the exact name of the lecture. It concerned the transfer of energy between different levels in the black hole, something along those lines. Well, the black student association raised a huge fuss about this “racist” lecture, how “sexist” it was, how outrageous it was, etc. They thought it was about black women! Anyone who understood what the lecture was actually about laughed their rear end off at the sheer ignorance shown by the black student association. An amount of egg they could never, ever wash off their faces.

From the “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” department:

If the eclipse were to be visible to mostly blacks, it would be taken as an obvious sign of the white supremacists’ desire to further oppress blacks with the increased risk of blindness.

The author is attempting to wax poetic with a comically strained metaphor.

But she took defensive pains to point out, several times, that "of course" she understands that the solar system is indifferent to racial injustice (as she sees it).

After thousands of words, she gets to her real point, which is purely political, not poetic:

"...perhaps the strange path of the eclipse suggests a need for reorganization. We have figured out, more or less, how to count every person. We have not yet found a political system in which every person counts equally."

Right. So the path of the eclipse "suggests" a need for political reorganization ... meaning, she wants to rip up the Constitution, destroy our representative republic, and "fundamentally transform America" into a direct democracy ... aka, mob rule.

Oregon is racist because there are “too few” black people? Who’s fault is that? Whites? Why not blacks, since they obviously don’t want to live there? And I though Oregon was full of Lefties! Are they the ones keeping blacks out? How racist!
