That’s the part I don’t get. There hasn’t been a naval development yet that can replace an ABS equipped with a pair of binoculars, communication with the bridge, and mindful of their duty. We rely far too much on electronic gadgets and gizmos.
May have a point there.
I think I read somewhere the Air Force is starting to teach its navigators how to use sextants and not rely as heavily on GPS. I hope that is true.
On top of that, when SAC went away the tankers went to Air Mobility Command and they got rid of the navigators. If the SHTF and GPS dies I wonder how they are going to tank the bombers on a SIOP run?
