Newt Sounds The Alarm: Trump Won’t Have ‘Stable’ Presidency Without ‘Serious Changes’ [VIDEO]

Former Speaker of the House and longtime Trump supporter Newt Gingrich is seriously worried about the future of Donald Trump’s presidency.

Gingrich, who has consistently been one of Trump’s most optimistic supporters, said Friday morning that Trump is more isolated than he realizes and needs to make “serious changes” if he’s going to have a stable presidency.

“I think he’s in a position right now where he’s much more isolated than he realizes,” Gingrich said in an interview with Fox News’ Bill Hemmer. “On the Hill, he has far more people willing to sit to one side and not help him right now, and I think that he needs to recognize that he’s taken a good first step with bringing in General Kelly, but he needs to think about what has not worked. You don’t get down to 35 percent approval and have people in your own party shooting at you and conclude that everything’s going fine.”

“How many times have we had this conversation? It was John McCain, Gold Star families and Access Hollywood. Is this week that much different than the numerous other situations?” Hemmer asked.

“It is only different in that you go through little ground, little ground, little ground, and after a while you have enough different people pull back that you are in a qualitatively different position and right now, that if he wants to get his agenda enacted that if he wants get things done and have a presidency that is stable, he is going to have to have a couple of serious changes,” Gingrich said.

“I think ‘The Art of the Comeback,’ which is a fascinating book that he wrote in 1997, is a really helpful reminder and he needs to think of what hasn’t been working and what he will do that is more effective in the rest of the presidency.”

Correct that Biden would have been in SOME ways tougher.

But in many other ways, far weaker. He would have the “white male” thing against him. He wouldn’t have the “Clinton aura” with him. He wouldn’t have the “he got screwed in 08” thing for him.

No, you can play these games all day, but the fact is Trump was a mere 560,000 votes from winning an ADDITIONAL 40-50 electoral votes in seven states (NH, MN, NM, NV, VA, ME, and CO). That’s shocking really. It means that without the sextape, Trump would have had an utter blowout.

The economic success of the Trump administration has been talked about a lot and his regulatory policies have been a major reason. People aren’t vblind...Trump p is getting the economy moving without much help from Congress. A lot of work is being done I. The VA and time will tell how well that works out. Obamacare will be gone before the end of his Presidency whether or not Congress acts...Has anyone heard anything regarding Syria since him and Putin struck a ceasefire? Considering the war has been going on since early in the Obama administration that is a Major accomplishment (you’ll just never hear it acknowledged). His Presidency has been hugely successful. Congress is the problem not the President. There is definitely much to do, the wall (even though illegal immigration is already in the win column), trade with China and fixing NAFTA but in all honesty; the politicians are jealous and angry that he’s done things so quickly. Unfortunately they are all to stubborn and bad minded to learn from him. If they ever get on board the country will be unstoppable for a generation

President Trump’s enimies are OUR enemies. He is catching all this flack exactly because he is right over the target and doing substantial damage in his goal of draining the swamp.

I’m with Newt. This Prez is in deep doo-doo. So far, his term has been chaotic, unstable, and whimsical. He needs a steady hand to guide him. He does not know whether he’s coming or going. And then he goes and fires his best strategist! He is totally verklempt.

Agree. Trump has to grow up. Less tweeting, less talking, more serious introspection and cool, quiet action. John Wayne ...he is not!

Well said! Trump wants advice only from YES men, like when he was a mogul. We, the people, need more Gingriches and fewer Hannitys.

If you think the generals are on Trump’s side, you haven’t been paying attention.

The generals will follow the orders of the Commander-In-Chief, or they'll be executed for Treason—by We the People, if necessary...

Trump is being castigated over and over for telling the truth. His supporters admire that about him and want to see him continue doing it but no one ever discusses that. His enemies only want to keep up the pressure by criticizing everything he says or does in hopes he gives up and resigns. They have blatantly stated that is their goal. We need to hear Trump say he is wise to that tactic and he is NOT going to let them have their way - he will NOT resign the job so many Americans entrusted to him.

I don't see how much longer the anti-Trumpers and Trump haters can keep playing their game but we MUST show them the futility of it and the danger to their OWN careers they are risking. Expecting the anti-Trump hysteria to die down on its own may be the wrong response. We need to speak up more - with our voices, our pens, our pocketbooks - and get the message out that this president was elected fair and square and the American people want him to get things done WITH the Congress FOR the good of all America. Stop playing games with our future!

re: Charlottesville: It’s not that it was, or wasn’t, the truth. It was the truth, but something that should never have been said...

As I said before, had he simply said that both sides were responsible, it would have been fine. When he went on to say there were good people in the Friday night (White Supremacist) side, America gasped.

BTW, Newt was not talking about Charlottsville. He was talking about the whole WH operation.

Trump has his heart in 100% the right place. He wants to MAGA. We all support that 100%. The problem is, it takes an internal WH machine to make that happen, and that machine is in disarray.

Newt did not attack Trump yesterday. If The Donald was listening, Newt did him a huge favor.

As I said before, had he simply said that both sides were responsible, it would have been fine. When he went on to say there were good people in the Friday night (White Supremacist) side, America gasped.

I didn't "gasp". I understood that Trump was NOT saying the White Supremacists had "good people" but that there were some good people who were participating in the demonstration to preserve their historical landmarks and memorials - and there were. Not everyone there on that "side" was racist, bigoted white supremacists.

Trumps exact words were:

“I think there is blame on both sides,” the president said in a combative exchange with reporters at Trump Tower in Manhattan. “You had a group on one side that was bad. You had a group on the other side that was also very violent. Nobody wants to say that. I’ll say it right now.”

Mr. Trump defended those gathered in a Charlottesville park to protest the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee. “I’ve condemned neo-Nazis. I’ve condemned many different groups,” he said. “Not all of those people were neo-Nazis, believe me. Not all of those people were white supremacists by any stretch.”

“Many of those people were there to protest the taking down of the statue of Robert E. Lee,” Mr. Trump said. “So this week, it is Robert E. Lee. I noticed that Stonewall Jackson is coming down. I wonder, is it George Washington next week? And is it Thomas Jefferson the week after? You know, you really do have to ask yourself, where does it stop?” https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/15/us/politics/trump-press-conference-charlottesville.html

I don't disagree with that but the Trump haters will find ANYTHING to criticize him for. He got hammered because he didn't condemn the WS "quickly enough" - even though we saw Obama rush to judgement and open his mouth numerous times before all the facts were known and he had to walk his words back. Trump is wise to not make that same mistake, but he is castigated regardless. If he had rushed to do a blanket, one-sided condemnation, he would have been panned for blaming ONLY the people on the right and letting the people who were the REAL violent instigators off the hook. He was damned if he did and damned if he didn't.

I'm telling you, there IS no winning with these people. He waited until he knew who did what and he rightfully condemned the bad actions of the people from both sides. Not everyone protesting the march was Antifa or alt-left and certainly not all of them were guilty of violence or assault. The WS that did strike back did so when they were attacked - not saying they were excused for doing that but they were reacting to the violence directed at them. Some of those Antifa people came armed with bats and pepper spray - they were there to intentionally start something.

I hate it that Trump has to watch every single word out of his mouth - whether publically, tweet or privately, NOTHING is safe from leaks with those who are out to destroy him using whatever they can get - even made up or misinterpreted stuff. I want to know that he knows this is their plan and not be caught up in it. I want to know he will stick it out and soldier on because he DOES have a lot of support out here. If these despicable types get their way and somehow, someway force Trump to resign, there may be a civil war. Nobody wants to see that. I know I sure don't.
