I suspect the questions swirling around the country. I've been to many civil war battlefields and monuments, mostly in the south, and have never heard these swirling questions. Either there, or when talking about the visits later, with Yankees.

They are not reporting news; they are trying to create news!

The Chicago Tribune is helpfully directing attention to markers most people in Chicongo did not know where there.
Now they can destroy them.

“Instead, the monument should serve as a reflection of what black Americans went through during the Civil War and the Jim Crow era, he said.”

It’s all part of history and history means something different to everyone.

Slavery, the Civil War, Jim Crow, and the passing of Civil Rights Acts should be remembered, but all of that can be remembered in books and other writings as well.

“...the deaths of 4,000 Confederate soldiers...”

And Each one of those 4000 Confederate Soldiers is worth more than 100,000 of the worthless feces slugs on the Left.

However, while the monument is relatively obscure, its ornate nature and its origins may raise questions about its appropriateness, one historian said.

A strange remark, although I confess I had no idea that it, or indeed the cemetery itself, even existed. A quick visit to Google Maps can bring you right up to date, and give you a clear idea of the location and situation of the monument, and it is indeed in close proximity to the grave site of Harold Washington, but by no means "crowding it". ( It's across the road behind some trees. )

I can't see it as "ornate", so I wonder what that's supposed to mean ... probably "tall" or "prominent".

Yankees? Whites are all evil, all because of slavery. The Yankees fighting for the North is meaningless because they were mostly evil whites.

I hear no mention of the sacrifice of the whites that fought for the North against the South, if the Civil War was all about slavery those whites should be heroes now, but alas they are not. The Union Army is being erased as surely as the Confederacy, has to be when if is a race issue. When BLM unleashes violence on white people or Antifa does it in their behalf do they ask them if their ancestors fought for the North or the South before attacking them? No because they don’t care. They have made this a black vs white issue, they are only beginning with the Confederate monuments because they know that is an easier target, better talking points.

Now it is all about evil racist (all) whites and enslaved(all) blacks. No one else.

Destroying Confederate monuments doesn’t bother some people because they can find some justification for it- Confederates owned slaves (ignoring that most did not and those that did own slaves that were no part of the Confederacy) Confederacy was another country that fought the US and lost, but there was this thing called reconciliation that people want to ignore.

Whether or not people think there is at least some justification for removing Confederate statues, please be aware that is only the beginning. The talking points have already been starting about removing monuments to slave holders in general...many happen to be our founding fathers. If all whites are racist what about those that signed the Constitution? They will go there, yes they will. Make no mistake they really want to erase whites, all whites.

I have never heard of controversy about the Confederate monuments either until it became a left talking point. They were all considered pieces of our history, which is what they are.

The thing is in the big picture of liberal things this isn’t really about the blacks either, the liberals have proven by their deeds they don’t care about blacks. This is just another talking point to further the liberal agenda, bring us closer to destruction so they can rebuild this country to suit them.
