Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush is foisting upon the people of Texas a horrible and disrespectful plan for the Alamo. He has consistently thwarted or ignored every objection by the citizens of this State and all attempts to stop it.The current plan for the Alamo is a looming disaster that must be prevented.

Anyway, update the reading glasses. I signed on August 13, 2007, after being a long time lurker.
Either way, after visiting San Antonio in 1999, I have long wondered about the Alamo park grounds being inverted from the original mission courtyard. And the disrespect of driving over heroes’ graves. There may be individual “liberal” issues with the plans, like moving the cenotaph, but I, for one, am for returning the old grounds to the Alamo.
Once you start rewriting/attempting to change history and/or delegitimize a revered building or space, new landscaping, buildings, and walls are MEANINGLESS! You might just as well give that site or the whole state back to Mexico....which I am utterly AGAINST doing.
I watched the video, and “indigenous peoples”, “Spanish fathers”, was mentioned as much or more than the defenders in the battle. It is obvious that the Battle of the Alamo, which is what the shrine is intended to remember, is intended to be submerged, and buried, in a sea of multiculturalism. To prepare, as Pat Buchanan once wrote, Santa Ana’s image will probably be place on the nickel.
I once visited the Alamo and was dismayed to see that the site was embedded in the middle of a business district, so I am excited to see that all that clutter is being moved back. Other than for that, the shrine is awesome.
Being a lefty, naive, and having a terminal case of a projection complex, is no way for you to go through life.

Turning into a multicultural Disneyland that focuses on 300 years of San Antonio. Like the Riverwalk Mall, the Alamo just happens to be there as part of the experience.
Please rest assured that your posts will still be read and I will even consider your ideas. I will simply consider them in light of someone who suggested something as outre as the idea that I might support Mexican irredentism. It’s too over the top. I can’t take it seriously.
There’s a YouTube video linked to on the site that shows a demo of the Disneyland-type reimaging to occur (including those Muslim Moorish arches at the mission). Focus is on multicultural contributions to San Antonio over hundreds of years. Goal is to make the place a “World Heritage Site” where everything is pablum, nothing is Texan in spirit...and certainly the events that unfolded at the The Alamo will be distorted to show both sides of the conflict as moral equals at best or The Alamo filled with jingoist white males oppressing hispanics at worst.
No doubt we will have stories about the brave Indian lass who was the true hero, the oppressed slaves, an anti-gun (and anti-Bowie knife) message to promote peace, and perhaps a disclosure that one or two of those who fought at The Alamo were actually in the closet for fear of persecution for their sexual orientation. Hell, maybe they can make Davy Crockett transgender.
George P. Bush is not a Texan. His father is a retard named Jeb. His mother is a Mexican national. And he’s given speeches about how our Border Patrol is “racist” for enforcing immigration laws. There is no way this carpetbagger will ever treat The Alamo with the dignity and respect it deserves.

You can still visit the church and have a moment of silence. I’ve certainly seen people kneel and pray. You can also visit the cenotaph which will (finally) be located at the actual battle site.
You are free to make the Alamo solely about that memorial.
However, there are a lot of other fascinating aspects to the Alamo’s history that you will also now have the -option- of exploring as well. That doesn’t BURY the memorial. It just teaches you even -more- history about our great state.
In this day and age, you can’t separate one thing that you like, from the rest of the proposition. And what I wrote, re Mexico, is just a logical progression from the multi-culti crap.
Note that the linked article at “savethe alamo.us” doesn’t very accurately or rather, not accurately at all, describe the proposed master plan.
You really need to read the actual proposed plan before you get too excited.
THEN if you don’t like it, fair enough, but read the REAL plan first.
