Thats quite a revealing bit of history, about a war that was supposedly fought to end slavery.
A document that freed slaves in states that he had no legal control over, while not freeing the slaves in states that stayed in the Union. He didn't try very hard to fight slavery. And, he wasn't a supporter of equal rights either.

You’re probably right. I am not familiar with all of the dynamics, but you do raise an interesting point that stands a good chance of being totally true.
