US President Donald Trump has said he is not ruling out a military option in dealing with the crisis in Venezuela.

"The people are suffering and they are dying," he said.

Venezuela's Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino said President Trump's suggestion was "an act of craziness".

President Nicolas Maduro's new constituent assembly has been widely criticized as anti-democratic. The US recently imposed sanctions on President Maduro, branding him a dictator.

"We have many options for Venezuela, including a possible military option if necessary," Mr. Trump told reporters on Friday evening.

"We have troops all over the world in places that are very far away. Venezuela is not very far away and the people are suffering an they're dying.".....

Perhaps some military action in Venezuela against Nicolas Maduro, if deemed necessary, would send other nasty boys like Kim Jong Un a signal.

But there's a part of me that voted for Trump to keep the USA out of other countries with constant military intervention, even if it is bad and dictatorial like this commie has made Venezuela.

The United States has a disastrous record in the realm of nation building.

I hope that Trump understands why.

Venezuela has the potential for being another multi-decade long festering boil like NK or Cuba. Trump is just thinking in the long term. What’s right and what’s politically popular/expedient are often at odds.

Well, Donald doesn’t need to be playing around here. If he doesn’t have Congressional and world support to do the rebuilding in a suitable way (and you don’t try to give bicycles to fish) then he should leave bad enough alone. Let Venezuela enjoy the hell it voted for itself.

Maybe... If there are other actors waiting to exploit the Venezuela situation. That’s unclear to me. If it’s just going to wallow in its own hell, then the USA may not need to conquer it.

I am so tired of the endless wars. However, its time for the US, mostly Europe, to take hold of this situation and clean it up, because after all Europe egged on Chavez and now Madura to do the things that is happening there now.

Venezuela is NONE OF OUR BUSINESS. Blockaid it but otherwise we should leave it alone. Nothing for us except maybe to relocate all Venezuelans currently in the US back. Better if we were to occupy Mexico and then send all Mexicans back.

Sometimes we have to wait for rot to run its course. It isn’t easy. But the USA isn’t in a position to force fixes on every failure.

Advisorship to Venezuelans who want to do something about the problem might be okay. But Donald shouldn’t overextend America.

He didn't rule out an aerial assault by flying monkeys either.

Blockade might just be the right fit for this situation.

Boom! That's Sean Penn's head exploding. Boom! There goes Danny Glover! Boom! Bye bye, Belafonte. Screw all the Chavista useful idiots.

Sounds like victory, even if it's just a threat of a blockade. No intervention required. Blockades > Blockheads.

Yeah, no.

Venezuela is no threat to the U.S., and their internal affairs are not our government’s business.

I feel for the Venezuelan people but we’ve got really big evils like ISIS and NK on earth.

Part of Venezuela’s army rebelled; also, there might be some OAS action at some point. We could be supportive. I doubt if we’d undertake something alone, we are a member of the Organization of American States, OAS.

All the same, Venezuela is a bit of a partner in the Axis of Evil; laundered Iranian money, are an ally of Cuba. We do need to keep an eye on them.

Yeah... military intervention in Venezuela is just really a bad idea. We have bigger fish to fry.

"Venezuela is NONE OF OUR BUSINESS. Blockaid it but otherwise we should leave it alone."

If it's none of our business then why do you want to blockade them? A blockade is an act of war and in this case it would be an illegal act of war seeing as how Venezuela has committed no acts of aggression against us.

Just like Obama not sounding any verbal support for the Green Revolution in Iran when the Mullahs were at risk of losing it there? Did it ever dawn on some her that the comment was meant more for rhetorical input of support for the growing factions inside the military of Venezuela that there is some support for them taking this goon out?

How about we begin building relationships with those who might need our support?
