He sends buses down to the border every year, to pick up workers legally. He grows for major food chains. He pays over minimum, and treats the workers well.

I have absolutely no problem with that arrangement, and that's the way it should be. Those people are not "wetbacks".

God bless them for their work ethic, and for doing it the right way.

“Braceros were promptly replaced by illegal aliens, but I don’t recall Jesse Jackson, Vernon Jordan or other so-called black “leaders” protesting that they were continuing to take jobs away from blacks.”

It’s because at the time all of this was going on, these two still didn’t have any pubic hair!

They can into the country to pick produce, then moved up the food

Too bad welfare and food stamps caused the rotting crops.

Pay enough money so that American Citizens will want to work for you.

Cut welfare and food stamps for able bodied citizens so the slugs go back to work. Or they can starve.

“I seem to remember it was one of the BROWNS in CA who botched that up - either father or son...”

It was Jerry The Fairy’s dad, “Pat” Brown. He was even goofier than Jerry has turned out to be. It’s small wonder California is where it is today. Collectively, “The Brown’s” ( That’s the if it’s brown, flush it Browns) have been governors for TWENTY-FOUR EFFING YEARS! Worse yet, when you add in Gray Davis tenure (he was Jerry The Fairy’s Chief of Staff) who was governor for four years before being the first governor in history to face a recall. So in sum, we’ve had 28 years of The Browns.”
Then to cap it off, we elected that feckless turd Arnold The Awful Schickelgruber, who’s only claim to fame for eight years was knocking up his Mexican maid.

“... PEW Research Center reports more Mexicans are leaving the U.S. than coming here.

Hallelujah! At last.”

I don’t know. I can think of a sub group of “Americans” I’d rather see go than the Mexicans,

What you say is no doubt true.

I was being sarcastic and playing off of a ten year-old meme from when the illegals were staging their demonstrations. A common liberal meme of the day was ‘do you want to spend $10 for a head of lettuce?’.

The rejoinder was we already do, etc.

Back when Eisenhower unleashed "Operation Wetback" in 1955 or so, it was widely predicted that tomatoes would rot in the fields. Within 18 months, we had mechanized tomato picking equipment everywhere.

The early adopters made a killing.

Long past time to end slave labor in the U.S. Pay a wage commensurate with the work and you crops will be picked.

Driscoll invented an automated strawberry picker. Why can’t they?

If they already lost $14,000,000.00, had they paid $30/hour for pickers they would have gotten 500,000 hours of picker labor. That picks a lot of stuff to sell...in those 2 counties. I call BS on the growers’ griping.

Round up university students and require that they work in the fields for 2 summer semesters. Room and board and any money earned would go to reimburse the treasury for grants and the costs of U.S. higher educations. For most Students it would be like taking a semester abroad. Give them a couple of credits for work/life experience and a semester abroad for their Spanish language program! Solidarity with the agricultural workers and the collective!

The farmer pays for their food on the road trip, and maybe breakfast during the harvest, but brings them into town in the evening. Our small convenience store is overwhelmed with sales of quart beer and fried food selections. Great for the store owner, but no fun to be in line. But I confess, being 6’3” behind 5’3” people makes me feel like Jeb Bush.
Plus, that’s all they spend on themselves, the rest is sent back to their families...

This is a crap report based on 2015 data. That amount, btw, is less than 1% (ONE-PERCENT)of the total crop value in CA.

So the farmers are admitting they use illegal and cheap labor to make a buck while the rest of us pay for those criminal invaders social cost?

I hope their crops don’t get harvested. Maybe next year they will plant crops they can harest with legal labor or machinery.

UnAmerican Pukes!
