Is California Cracking Up?

I believe North Korea has graciously offered to solve our "California Problem".

Is California Cracking Up?

Past tense.....for many....many decades.

Kalifornia is definitely cracking-up, but the rest of the nation is following right behind led by the Deep State/Media/Academia cabal.

The secessionists neglect to consider that if California should successfully secede that their world would be turned upside down. Big corporations would leave, defense contractors would leave. Even the entertainment industry would leave along with their celebrities, the brain drain would be huge. In essence, the state would hallow out in very short order. California would look a lot like Cuba, a beautiful, impoverished desolate country.

I’ve wondered this for the last decade or so, even though I have no real interest in California nor have I ever been there. Between Hollywood, Tech, Agriculture and Tourism, it should be an economic shining star and beyond self sustaining.

Two words: Illegals and corruption, I guess. Too bad.

From the article: “Like South Carolina residents in 1861, Calexit advocates seem to assume that federal law should apply everywhere else except in California.”

There, I’ve correct it: “Calexit advocates seem to assume that California law should apply everywhere else.”

California is hanging on becsuse there are leftist businesses and individuals who will pay any price to keep living there. They are subsidizing the impoverished people who are displacing middle income families.

Yet California -- after raising its top income tax rate to 13.3 percent...

If I lived in Kalifornica, I would be in the 9% bracket vs. the 3.07% flat tax in PA. Even worse, my non-SS retirement income would be taxable, whereas in PA it's exempt.

Glad I don't live there.

You don’t get into Cal Tech because you live in the state.

“More than a quarter of Californians were not born in the United States.”

And on a completely unrelated point, 1/3 of Californians want to secede. Wonder why?

Yes it is. A beautiful state, rich in natural resources. Used to have an excellent university system. But the people keep electing nut jobs to Sacramento who keep making things even nuttier. Like an addict, California needs to hit rock bottom before change can come.

Kalif is not leaving. If it became a separate country then some foreign powers could take over the Naval bases. The US is not giving up its Naval bases.

There is no check and balance in California. It is a one party state with the media being nothing more then a PR firm for the Democrats.

Think of an actor, or someone in sports that earns the big payday, or even someone winning big in the lottery. If they do not have something in place to help conserve their wealth they will within a few years find themselves bankrupt.

Yes, California has wealth, but it is being squandered with no thought of the future. With all the promises to the public employee unions it is most likely too late for the State of California. They do not have the money to pay for what they have committed to and unlike the Federal Government they can not print money.

The bottom line is they are spending more then they have coming in and their credit card is maxed out. If the State of California was an individual they would be bankrupt.

There is a lot they could do to save themselves but the only thing they will do is raise taxes and fees.

This solution only works for awhile. Soon more businesses and individuals will leave California which in the end mean less income from taxes and fees.

What is the solution? There is none. The state has to fail before real reform can take place.

If I was thirty or even twenty years younger I would leave California. But my home is paid for, I live in a quite rural community and I am somewhat isolated from the crazies that live along the coast. So I am here until I die or they break away. At that point I will leave.
