Shouldn’t that read “just got a little shorter”?
That depends on how effective the AA system is and what it’s throwing. The heavily armored Russian helicopters, for example, have been known to shrug off direct hits from Stingers, Strelas and other MANPADS systems (and no few vehicle-launched SAMs) and not only keep flying but continue the mission - hits that would have blown any Western chopper out of the sky. And yes, there’s modern video evidence of this, coming out of the Syrian and Ukranian wars.
