The bag was pulled from bag check? If you declare what you have should not have been a problem. I have a metal box in my checked baggage with my personal weapon (unloaded) and ammunition in a separate locked metal box. It’s declared on check-in and I’ve never had a problem.

The woman in the article took her firearm to New York City, and declared it when checking in for her return flight. When she declared it, the ticket agent called the police, because she illegally possessed the firearm in the state of New York.

If you have a gun in your possession in some places like NY and NJ and you don’t have a license for that state or a firearms owner ID card for that state, you are a criminal according to their laws. You’d also be in violation of the law for having a magazine that holds more than 7 rounds, even if it was empty and no gun to go with it. Insanity...
