McCain criticizes Trump over "fire and fury" threat to North Korea
Axios ^ | 8/8/17 | Shannon Vavra

John McCain, typically a supporter of a hawkish foreign policy, told KTAR radio Tuesday that President Trump's threat to rain "fire and fury" down on North Korea was a mistake:

"I take exception to the President's comments because you gotta be able to do what you say you're gonna do...In other words, the old walk softly but carry a big stick, Teddy Roosevelt's saying, which I think is something that should've applied because all it's going to do is bring us closer to a serious confrontation. I think this is very, very, very serious…The great leaders I've seen don't threaten unless they're ready to act and I'm not sure President Trump is ready to act...It's the classic Trump in that he overstates things."

That position was shared by Former Defense Secretary William J. Perry, who tweeted "Nuclear deterrence is only effective if threats are deemed credible, bluster hurts our national security posture."

I wouldn’t be so optimistic about the year and a half. Ruth Bader Ginsburg is proof a corpse can still hold public office in DC.

Pansy Graham! LOL! I no longer partake of liquids while perusing the comments on FR, for good reason.

You have to consider your audience. Talk firmly and carry a really big stick with spikes in it.

I wonder what rhetoric would be appropriate for Fatso with the bad hair? Maybe sing him, “You’ve Got a Friend?”

I think it would be naïve of Trump to say something and not be ready to back it up. In fact, I would wager that there is a plan, already in place if and when NK carries out another ICBM launch in the direction of Guam.

They send an ICBM warhead to Guan, we shoot it down, then the incoming to Korea will be massive and pin point accurate to start by wiping Fatboy and their communications network.

McCain saw fire and fury in Nam. Funny how everyone is first to rush to insinuate Trump wants to push a button.

McCain should take his own advice, and walk softly, put the club he keeps using on Trump away, and go grow tomatoes and squash - something quiet for a change.

Dear Juan: “Fire and fury” IS an understatement. And Trump IS ready to act.

It’s too bad his ejection seat worked.

Then again, if he had followed orders and flown ABOVE the ceiling, like the other men in his squadron, he would have not been shot down in the first place.

McCain is full of criticism for Trump, but not one word about the other side of this little propaganda dust up. This also applies to any other critic/commentator who I have heard last night and this morning. USA, bash, stomp, cry, moan and $%^#$$& Trump. About N Korea, The sounds of silence, not so much as one cheep of a cricket.

the more McCain opens his Jelly Fish mouth, the more proof we have of the damage done by chemotherapy and radiation.

Death by chemotherapy and or radiation is extremely painful, it has been described by those going tru it a ‘hell on earth’.

McCain has worked long and hard with the democrats to get a war started with Russia.

Now along comes this inexperienced President Trump (whom McCain hates more than he hates conservatives)
and he starts distracting people with talk of a conflict with North Korea!!!

The reason why this fool is upset with “fire and fury” is that he knows there will be an eternity of it for him whenever he dies soon.

Oh shut up, McNasty McLiar, just shut the h*ll up!!!

You were a sh*tty presidential candidate, you would have been a sh*tty POTUS, and you are a sh*tty senator.

Nobody except the Fake News Media care about what you have to say anymore, your Captain Obvious opinions are laughable.

You’re just a dying mean old man, insanely jealous of Donald Trump. The more you open your bitter nasty mouth, the more people there will be rooting for the tumor.

Everyone is getting whipped up by the media and Trump’s tweets, calm down. This hysteria is nonsense and downright dangerous.

Too many headline readers are completely ignorant of the NK capabilities. NK must be having a big laugh at all our headlines.

The most powerful NK missile, only in theory, could reach about Kansas City, with no payload bigger than a jar of kimchee.

They would have to have another missile stage added on to provide more fuel in boost.

Their best missiles so far are all “truck” launched. They don’t have a truck big enough for a bigger missile. If they did, a bigger heavier missile would get damaged joyriding around NK.

They would have to go to a silo launch with onsite liquid fueling. That’s what every other nuclear power does that wants nukes delivered.

NK has no silos, if they did we would know. Also, all of their orbital apogee missiles have burned up on re-entry, they don’t have adequate heat shields, yet.

Let’s all calm down.
