His attitude wouldn't bother me one bit. He should be commended for playing a rigged card game to his advantage.

I have several close friends who are "mixed" married couples. One spouse is an American-born white person and the other is of European descent but was born in Latin America. Most of their kids are so fair-skinned that they make Scandinavians look swarthy, but you can be damn sure they're checking off that "Hispanic" box when it comes time for college admissions and job applications.

Personally, I think this is the kind of thing that will put an end to affirmative action faster than any legislation or court ruling.

Doing the same with adopted daughter if they still play this game in 13 years when she goes to college. Hell yeah we are checking the Hispanic box. She’s about 30% Iberian peninsula and 20% Native American (though no college scholarships for the Tainos, dammit). So I might be lily white but hell yeah she can check that box.

And I know a blond boy who always checked African American on everything because he was from South Africa. No one can say he wasn’t African American.
