Somewhat reassuring. Rod isn’t a total dweeb. He owns Mueller, but did not factor in the prominence of BFF Comey
I don’t know how good a source the Daily Beast is especially when they think that George Soros is OK.
I just don’t know enough about the players to figure out who is anti Trump and who is not.
Well for one thing it demonstrates how easy and slick it would be to toss Donald via impeachment.
Both House of Congress are blustering their way to dominance, with Chuckie Schumer leading them.
Absolutely. Confirmation is a gauntlet so they have to avoid firing anyone, or playing musical chairs with anyone, who has been confirmed by Congress. Like moving Kelly from confirmd HLS head to chief of staff means the new Homeland guy will have to face the gauntlet. Rod Rosenstein’s position was confirmed. FBI Director Wray was just confirmed last week. The Senate is playing real hard ball on anyone, and they force them to make vows that they will not be loyal to Trump, that they will report to Congress if Trump tries to pull anything, etc.
I also believe McMaster is evil but he has snowed Trump himself (for now).
ROSENSTEIN: Chris, the special counsel is subject to the rules and regulations of the Department of Justice, and we don't engage in fishing expeditions. Now, that order that you read, that doesn't detail specifically who may be the subject of the investigation --WALLACE: Right.
ROSENSTEIN: -- because we don't reveal that publicly.
But Bob Mueller understands and I understand the specific scope of the investigation and so, it's not a fishing expedition. [Congress knows the specific scope too, Comey told them]
WALLACE: I understand it's not a fishing expedition, but you say any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation. In the course of his investigation of the issues that he is looking at, if he finds evidence of a crime, can he look at that?
ROSENSTEIN: Well, Chris, if he finds evidence of a crime that's within the scope of what Director Mueller and I have agreed is the appropriate scope of the investigation, then he can. If it's something that's outside that scope, he needs to come to the acting attorney general, at this time, me, for a permission to expand his investigation. But we don't talk about that publicly.
Circular at the end there, but the scope of the investigations was precisely defined at the outset, in ways that are not public.
It is good, IMO, to have Rosenstein out there. If Mueller goes off the reservation, Rosenstein is responsible to reel him back on.
What now will be our alternative...I’m with you on the gopher is dead to me. They can campaign...but I won’t even attend cause I don’t believe one word they say anymore.
Yup. ALL of them. It’s as if they’re up to something.
And THAT can’t be good for us!
For the record, Jim DeMint is no longer a U.S. Senator. He left in 2013 to go with the Heritage Foundation. Would love to see President Trump appoint him to a high-level role.
The most distinctive note one must make over today’s pile of Sunday political talk shows this 8/6/17 is what they DIDN’T discuss.
For not once was the Pakistani scandal with Debbie Wasserman-Schultz mentioned.
You’d think the betrayal of the country would be worth a mention.

Flake proves his name with his bogus book copied from Barry Goldwater.

John Kasich spends entire week making himself a guest. How can we stop this man who does not speak for most Republicans?

Come on, man!
Relevancy please, or are you just being snarky?
We're still in Montana, the Dakotas and Arizona. We were fighting the Sioux and Apache in those places more than 130 years ago. Long before the Germans and Japanese...
But this is now. None of those places in the old West, nor countries of our former WWII enemies, have relevance to Afghanistan. We are still fighting in Afghanistan. Nowhere else. While Afghanistan isn't a human meat grinder like other wars we've fought, we've been there, fighting, for almost 16 years. Every American we lose in that country needs to be justified. What is our goal?
Right now our goal is open-ended, like, "Until the Taliban lose".
We might as well wait forever. As long as the Koran is taught in mountain Madrassas there'll always be more Taliban.
To that end, I'm no longer sure we can win at all. And I am a war-hawk. I think Trump is seeing it similarly.
So bring some meat to the table. What do YOU recommend, given your long foreign service career?
Kasick was elected in Ohio only because he had a very weak opponent (Ted Strickland, a former washed-up governor and Congressman)
This article tells how bad Ohio was on unemployment and economy.
Strickland could have laid the blame on Obama ruining every state’s economy, but would not go against his brother Democrat. He also changed his long record of supporting guns right to curry favor with Gabby Gifford and Sarah Brady (anti-gun nuts), but this rolled in the NRA to finish him off due to his treachery. Even so Kasick barely “won”. It was really an anti-Strickland tide.
Bingo, Shalom, and that’s my concern. If that happens, it will mean the end.
The American people are in charge—right or wrong. We stood down during the Carter, Clinton and Obama administrations because the people—or enough of them—made their choice. Sure we hated it, but our goal was to win the NEXT fight.
I think most of us accepted that.
(Now the Clinton impeachment... That’s another story, but I think that hurt us. We should have learned a lesson from that).
Now it is their turn to accept OUR CHOICE. If they don’t accept, why should we EVER ACCEPT THEIRS?
And the fact that Republicans are doing this????
WTF???!!!???
It’s like a guy swatting a fly on his own head with a sledgehammer. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?
It takes years to build a loyal following, but only minutes to lose that forever.
Do you agree that the only way to win or stabilize Afghanistan is to go to war with Pakistan? The fighters all pour across the open border and then run back for refuge and resupply. This has always been the case, against us, the Soviets, and the British of Rudyard Kipling’s poems version.
Sad but very true. But we patriots must develop a strategery to fight them.
It's actually been happening since the early '90s.
Grandma and I had lived up around Longmont for 35 years, all of our kids (plus half of the grandkids) were born there and a few are still hangin' in, but after about the 500th ex-Valley Girl gushing about "Nirvana" while her husband/sperm donor/latest boy toy tried to figure out how to drive that $50,000 pickup truck through a half inch of fresh snow, we packed up and moved outta there.
....and don't get me started about those Californicators' political preferences, conservation practices, manners or common sense. I'd have to pay out a damn fortune to my Cussin' Jar.
Mistake on Jim Demint. He is no longer a Senator.
