Nixon resigned because the democrats controlled the house and the senate. He was toast. If the republicans were in charge he would have finished his term.
A lot of truth here. Nixon was a genuinely great individual by all accounts that are worth anything, but he also became a bit of a swamp creature (affirmative action, attempted price controls, etc.) and it was good that he stepped aside when he did. Trump will drain the swamp or die trying. God bless him.
