Report: New White House Chief Of Staff Believes He Has Convinced Trump To Give Up On Border Wall
Daily Caller ^

Posted on 08/01/2017 7:40:22 AM PDT by UKrepublican

New White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly believes he has convinced President Donald Trump to abandon his pledge to construct a large and lengthy wall along the border separating the United States and Mexico, according to The New Yorker.

At a private meeting in tony Aspen, Colorado, two weeks ago, Kelly told a group of high-profile attendees that he had extensively discussed the border wall issue with Trump. Kelly believes he persuaded Trump to abandon his policy goal of erecting a lengthy wall along the 1,954-mile border which the United States shares with Mexico, according to The New Yorker.

Instead of a wall, Kelly said he suggested Trump could utilize a combination of complex monitoring equipment, continuous air surveillance and many miles of fencing can effectively secure the U.S.-Mexico border.

Such a combination of materials and surveillance would be called a “barrier” instead of a “wall,” Kelly told his audience.

And only quizling open borders globalists who either have zero military experience or desire to erase the American people from history would imply that there was a viable third way to keep undesirables out besides a physical wall or well maintained lethal minefields.

Which of the three are you.

There is no fourth option and we want to know Rooster.

Walls remain, politicians do not.

Wise up.

But, “many miles of fencing” IS a border wall. You need different “walls” at different sites.

No, “we” did not.

Speak for yourself.

If Trump proves himself to be a liar, he will never get my vote again.

Very simple.

This thread showed up a bit later:

Go back to Trump's speech at Laredo in July 2015.

He explained that the wall would not span the entire border. That it would consist of a variety of physical, human, and technological barriers.

Ask her if she thinks they can tunnel under this.

Well, Willlbur...I mean, Mr. Edd. I glad you asked that question.

I am for stopping illegal immigration using whatever mechanism works at any given point at the border.

BTW, are you saying that a minefield must also have a wall?

I am not so interested in the presence of a physical wall as I am a highly effective ‘virtual’ wall. A ‘virtual’ wall would consist of several major components. These are:

1) strict immigration requirements for incoming applicants,
2) strict, zero tolerance rules for US employers
3) sanctuary cities receive no federal or state funding. They must tax their own citizens for the funds to support their illegal population.

Strict immigration requirements for incoming applicants should consist of at least these basic things:
- Disease free; the only exceptions are a minor cold or other temporary illness.
- Adults must be educated to high-school level (we already have all the illiterates we need)
- Adults must speak, read and write English to a significant degree (high school or better)
- able to pass a skills competency test (we do not need more lettuce pickers, chicken pluckers, etc)
- discovered illegals are deported immediately with their families. If a child is US born, the child can re-apply for admission when they are 21. They will be subject to the same physical and educational rules as new immigrants.
- have a financially responsible US citizen sponsor.

Strict, zero tolerance rules for US employers:
- US citizen job applicants must considered first for any and all job openings.
- A company/business owner will incur $50,000 fine per day per illegal found at a job site or factory (first offence)
- A company/business owner will incur one year in jail (second offence, etc)

Not concerned. Trump said during the campaign that there were places where a wall per wouldn’t be practical.

The Wall is a metaphor for border security, and DJT has support of border patrol officers.

Years ago...Hillary described a Wall along the border as a fence. I’ll try and find it.

Irrelevant. No one cares what a two-time losing candidate thinks, especially Hillary.

My friend is a sweetheart, but kind of dopey, so she may say she does think they could tunnel under it! However, I'd respond that tunneling takes longer than strolling over borders that don't even have walls!

(By the way, great photo! Thx.)

it has always been an enforcement issue as far as immigration law is concerned. the wall with most of the supporters was a symbol of trumps support of enforcing immigration law. that said the wall has to be built because if it is not built it will become a symbol to the pro not enforcing immigration law people of the being successful.

My pleasure!

In this photo, which is an engineer designed plan submitted to the WH for The Wall, I think we can safely assume that such a massive structure has a massive foundation and a substantial structure that extends well beneath the surface of the ground.

Personally, I would also fit it with very sensitive sound monitoring equipment aimed at the ground.

Yes semantics will rule the day.

A double fence where the traffic is to shut it down or funnel it is all we need not some elaborate Wall of Trump with a beautiful door in it.

Virtual walls can be changed by virtual presidents at anytime.

Can you tell my why Republicans are so stupid and so eager to accept total failure as complete success?
