A college student in Columbia, South Carolina was kidnapped by three men at gunpoint. Fearing the worst, she used some Jason Bourne level-problem solving and her manual transmission car to get away safely.
According to newspaper The State, 20-year-old Jordan Dinsmore found herself in one of the worst situations possible when three men approached her, pushed her to the ground and put a gun to her head. The publication reports that they forced her to drive her car and withdraw money from an ATM and then told her that she was going to be taken to a location to be raped.
But Dinsmore had one advantage, The State reports—when the men first put her into the car they couldn’t drive it because it had a manual transmission, so they made her take the driver’s seat. That is when she concocted a plan to escape. After she withdrew $300 out of the ATM, she got back into the car and left her seatbelt off, she hoped her kidnappers didn’t notice the seatbelt alarm chiming.(snip)
“I was thinking somehow I have to get out of this,” Dinsmore said. “Can I crash the car? No, because it might knock me out and not them. Can I pull over or something? I have to get away from them.”
The Slate reports that she purposefully missed the turn and rolled her car into the intersection, threw her car in neutral, then she opened the door and jumped out, while the vehicle was moving at 35 mph.
Once she landed she screamed for help, a woman came to her and called 911. Dinsmore suffered only minor scrapes and bruises from her escape and her 2009 Scion even managed to be in pretty decent shape after the attackers crashed it, The State reports.

Years ago the manual transmission used to be called the standard but that terminology no longer applies. My 5 spd Ford Ranger is a manual transmission. Getting lazy in my senior years now so next vehicle is probably an automatic trans. but most of my vehicles have been manuals which are very uncommon now.

I agree statistically you are right. But hell I live here in prime Amish country, for over 25 years, and neither my wife , who rides MARTA everyday, or myself have EVER been attacked by this “race war”... you would think if they are all out to get whitey they would have at least tried by now...
are there black thugs who hate whites?? of course! but hey I got news for you... it works BOTH ways.
The “race war” is being actively prosecuted in cities with black populations in excess of 30% and within those cities there are areas where the black population is in excess of 90%.
Take a stroll alone through on of those areas and tell me there’s no war going on.
They are far from the only ones out there, but I want to see statistics that back up your smearing of “whitey”.

This article leaves out the fact that the 3 AA perps admitted to officers they targeted her because she was white and they “hated white people.” The sheriff has gone on record to say they can’t be charges with a hate crime because they are all juveniles.

A stick is only good nowadays if the car has a fun factor to go with it.
I’d love a new standard 2018 Mazda Miata or Mustang as for cars that i could possibly afford.
My son started driving 3 on the tree at age 15. He was 12 or 13 when he started driving a normal floor shift manual. By the time he got on the public road, he probably had driven more miles than I had when I took my drivers test!

I think they are tracking withdrawals..once I took out a large sum out about 150 miles from my living and atm withdrawal area....got a call from bank asking if it was me doing the withdrawal a few days later...also they have cameras..but you have a good idea

I "stroll" through areas like that quite frequently, and I'm telling you there's no race war going on. Don't conflate the actions of criminals and haters with people who just want to be left alone to live their lives. Only extremists—on either side—"want" such a thing—and they are an a deservedly miniscule minority.
Despite your cynicism, most Americans are perfectly content to be just that—Americans. Most Americans—including Blacks—are totally post-racial.
Don't allow a caricature drawn by Media outlets with an agenda—on either side—to manipulate you.
E pluribus unum: "out of many, one". You either believe it or you don't—and vast majorities of Americans do. And a strident remainder are contributing to the Balkanization of America.
I'm sure there's a "race war" being "actively prosecuted" in the minds and hearts of some misguided Americans. But they are in a distinct minority, and the overwhelming majority of Americans—of all races—have absolutely no interest in it. It's the purview of skinheads, the KKK, BLM clowns, and Black Panthers, and it has no currency in the lives of decent, everyday post-racial America—White and Black.
Any talk of a "race war" is playing into the hands of the most extreme elements of either side, and will never be normalized in America...

Seems maybe 3% do. That’s it.
