Why Replace Obamacare with Anything?
American THinker ^ | 7/28/2017 | claire hawks

Obamacare, like almost everything the government is in charge of, is undoubtedly a disaster and needs to be repealed. Why should it be replaced with anything?

...

Compare health insurance with car insurance. If you feel you are an incredibly safe driver and choose not to have any, or adequate, insurance, what happens if you are in a serious and costly collision? It certainly isn't the responsibility of the government to bail you out for your poor choice. And if you try, after this costly collision, to increase your auto insurance or get insurance, you will probably find yourself in a high-risk pool paying incredible amounts of money. No one expects the American taxpayers to pay for your poor decisions. So why should the American taxpayers pay for your poor medical decisions? They shouldn't.

My question exactly: Why should I pay for someone else's health care? Should I also pay for a flat screen TV for them? How about a nicer car? Maybe I should pay for their beer, cigarettes, pot, scratch off lotto tickets and food as well. I work for my benefit. Where is the moral justification for forcing me to pay for things for other people that they are unwilling to pay for themselves?

Exactly-—Medicaid is nothing more than ‘SINGLE PAYER’

Exactly. We purchase our own healthcare and there is good stuff out there for decent prices.

Or it could be called ‘Charlie Gard insurance’

Yes, let’s compare health insurance to car insurance. If a car insurance company tried.to set up a network of preferred repair “providers”, and said providers charged people different prices for the same service based on what insurance they have, they’d be sued and/or prosecuted under existing law, and they’d lose. Not a.hypothetical, BTW, this actually happened.

Because Maobama built his FSA (Free S**t Army), so now everyone has to pay for it.

Nobody takes away anyone's free s**t... apparently it's become a birthright.

“Where is the moral justification for forcing me to pay for things for other people that they are unwilling to pay for themselves?”

It’s too bad that the majority of Republicans in congress don’t even discuss this issue. They accepted the premise of democrats: health insurance is a right and it should be guaranteed for everybody.

More people on “wellfare” aside, how anybody of sane mind can look at the Post Office, TSA, Veterans Administration or you-name-the-govt-run-program and think that turning your health/life over to govt decisions and management is a good idea...just mind-boggling

Your logic is why you rejected the RAT party. The parasites and their proponents are destroying our western civilization.

You’re thinking too much like the founding fathers. That’s subversive.

You already do. But as a taxpayer I expect those that take our money and redistribute it have oversight and punish those that abuse it.

I don't know about that. This is pretty much how auto insurance works. My insurance company has "recommended auto repair shops," and has deals with all of them based on fixed rates for different repairs or fixed (lower) hourly rates for repair work.

If you file a claim they will recommend these shops for you, but will also make sure to tell you that you have the option of going elsewhere.

Insurance is a share pool where pooled resources pay for each other’s health care. If you want to self insure, be my guest.

“they’d be sued and/or prosecuted under existing law, and they’d lose. “

Republicans have caved to the left’s push for more and more govt interference and control of health insurance and healthcare, including bailouts for the insurance industry.

It will be interesting to see how many people are ruled to have standing and prevail in lawsuits once the ruling class fully implements a government-run health system (exempting themselves, of course).

Democrats knew if they passed a medical plan into law that gave out subsidies and free health insurance republicans would never have the guts to take away the handouts.

And the gutless republicans are proving them to be correct.

Medicaid should be totally detached from ANY PART of Obamacare, and returned to the status it once had - a welfare program.

Conflating Medicare, Medicaid and insurance-based programs created a mishmash that could only result in the withering of ALL commercial plans, depletion of any remaining Medicare funds, and an open bleeding wound on the US Treasury. The complex set of taxes, fees and mandates included in the huge and badly misnamed “Protection Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010” only serve to further stifle and kill outright many aspects of the economy, with no lasting social benefit beyond simply adding more people to Medicaid, a program for which many of them should never have been eligible.

Quote from Dr. Adrian Rogers:
Government cannot give anything to anybody that it doesn’t first take from somebody else. Whenever somebody receives something without working for it, somebody else has to work for it without receiving.

President Trump needs to make an announcement: “Repeal and get out.”

The government has no business running health care any more than running car insurance.

Turn it back to to the private sector.

I know. The question was rhetorical. My wife used to work in a skool. She saw the parent of the chillins who applied for (and received) "free" lunches. Elaborate "dos" nail art, expensive tats, really nice clothes, etx.
