No. Not really since I don't believe Trump uses social media well. The perspective here on FR is that Trump is very successful with social media since many here like his tweets - it makes them chuckle and feel a since of vindication by socking it to whomever he is socking it to. However, I think one needs to judge Trump's use of social media using one metric and that is, are his tweets advancing his agenda, which is why we voted for him. The answer is no.

It is the president's responsibility to rally the people around his agenda and motivate the people to let their reps and senators know what they want. Reagan understood that and managed to go over the media's head in a world with no social media. Trump thinks he can get what he wants by insulting people and so far it is not working.

Trump has no clue on how to build support on Capitol Hill. Are there people around him giving him advice and he is not listening or are those around him also clueless? We don't know. Is anyone really surprised McCain voted against the skinny repeal tonight. McCain will always vote against Trump when it is close after being humiliated by Trump last year. Flame away. I don't like McCain anymore than the next person here, but I do understand when you want someone's vote, you don't publicly humiliate them.

Trump breeds dysfunction and then lights the match and wonders why there is complete chaos in the White House.

I do believe the entire town is against Trump and he has a tough fight, but he has made it even harder. The whole town was against Reagan, too. One was strategic and surrounded himself with professionals focused on his agenda. The other is flailing, grabbing at straws and surrounded himself with family (who don't even agree with his agenda - why would a president surround himself with people who don't want to advance his agenda and actively argue against it? This is a fatal flaw.) and others who are focused on back stabbing, leaking and a new hire giving an interview so poisonous that it is guaranteed to make the White House even more chaotic. We now know why Spicer resigned immediately when he found out Scaramucci was going to be his boss. How many people here would want to work for someone like Scaramucci?

I voted for Trump and expected him to break some furniture and it is never pleasant business, but the furniture being broken is his own.

Well, we’re going to differ on this point. But thanks for your good reasoning.

I think social media is more than Trump’s tweets. And one function of the tweets do is fire up Deplorables and the grass roots networks that will ultimately win the day — perhaps when we get new blood in Congress.

Take a guy like Bill Mitchell on Twitter. He’s building quite a following and a new internet TV network. I think you’re going to see all sorts of grass roots MAGA rallies in the next year and a half.

As I recall Reagan, he didn’t have the advantage that Trump has with a majority (or almost majority) Congress. He had to fight Tip O’Neil.

Then again, Washington corruption probably wasn’t as deep as it is today so it requires more daring measures. I don’t approve of Scaramucci’s language, however, as the new guy coming into a leaking White House, he needs to show his toughness right away to establish authority. Later on, he can settle down somewhat.

Didn't you get the zot, about a year ago?
