Full title.......................Chuck Grassley warns Judiciary Committee won't consider replacement for Jeff Sessions this year if Trump fires him.................Sen. Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, strongly suggested on Wednesday night that he would not allow his panel to consider confirming a replacement this year for Attorney General Jeff Sessions if President Trump were to fire him.
"Everybody in D.C. [should be] warned that the agenda for the judiciary [committee] is set for rest of 2017," Grassley, R-Iowa, wrote on Twitter. "Judges first subcabinet 2nd / AG no way," he added, with "AG" referring to attorney general.

I hope you're right but having David Wasserman prosecute the Awan fraud case is not a good starting place.
If Sessions lets this charade continue he should be fired.
I don’t like being threatened. Whether Sessions stays or goes, I don’t want the President being threatened like this. Trump’s tweets are rude? How about this direct threat to his presidency? Something very wrong in the sewer of Washington. And it starts with Republicans.
senators pay should be cut in half. those lazy losers. they love those vacays!
These people openly admit they’re traitors to the Republic and Constitution.
“Rosenstein Acting AG. That would make bad things worse”
Why would that be worse? The swamp is rising to defend Sessions. He is clearly working for the enemy.
Rosenstein can’t make things any worse than they are now. Will he appoint another special prosecutor? He is more likely to fall in line to save his job.
Not firing Sessions will be perceived as a weakness at this point. It will mean the end.
They have been our enemy for decades. We just didn’t really know how much until President Trump. We knew a bit during obama and bush....but not how much.
Their money masters are proud of them
I think it would be (might be?) worse because the goal here should be to get rid of Mueller. Rosenstein will not fire Mueller. So if Sessions is fired, then Rosenstein will have to be fired next. I think the result of that would be bi-partisan congressional furor far worse than we have seen to date and that would result in very damaging veto-proof legislation. I think that if Sessions resigns and Rosenstein is bypassed by appointing someone else as Acting AG, that the politics will be a little less explosive and that will be better.
Rosenstein cant make things any worse than they are now....
True but Rosenstein as Acting AG means we are stuck with Mueller as special counsel.
Not firing Sessions will be perceived as a weakness at this point. It will mean the end.
I agree this cannot continue for very long. If Sessions will not quit very soon (next few days?), then I agree that he must be fired.
Drain the sewer of political bottom feeders!
The only thing Sessions has done is get the special prosecutor appointed to take down Trump.
He is not involved at all in immigration enforcement. ICE reports to General Kelly.
Good. Trump needs to climb off this sh*t and work it out with Jeff
DUHH, that’s (one reason) why Trump’s Sessions tweets were so dumb.
If Sessions resigns then Trump gets Rod Rosenstein who appointed Mueller.
He wont get a replacement through the Senate.
A friend stated this:
“Grassley just gave Trump cover to keep Sessions. Meanwhile, Sessions drops the hammer on #DeepState. Love. It.”...
Grassley has been one of the few senators consistently on DJT’s side, and heading up a very powerful committee.
When I saw the headline this morning, I thought this was Grassley’s shot over the bow — trying to save Trump from himself.
And no, I’m not entirely happy with Sessions, either. However, the multi-faceted blowback that would occur with that sort of vacancy right now will cause headaches that no one on FR can imagine at the moment.
Term limit of 5 years for Senators.
Yes I know, and I still say 5 year term limit for all senators.
That will give a little breather year in between, hopefully slowing things down forever. What have they touched that has turned out well? That couldn’t have been done better for less money? That’s what I thought!
Yes. I definitely see this shaping up nicely. All the Democrats love Sessions. Very honorable man. Best AG ever. No one doubts his integrity. Grassley says it is impossible to move anyone else into that position. Sessions is AG and no one else is going to be the AG anytime soon.
And when Sessions opens fire on all the “untouchable” people, what can they say against him? Will they demand Trump fire him? That ship has sailed.
Sessions is going any where...stay tuned...
>>>isn’t
..........this just demonstrates once again that Trump, each day, is in a battle on the North with the Marxist Media, and to the South the Democrats, and to the East duplicitous, traitorous, lying, despicable RINO’s and to the West with members of his own staff not all of whom are Obama holdovers e.g. Sessions.
Trump has to stand up to people like Grassley if he wants to break through the clouds and get out into clear sky.
He just put Trump in check in this game of 4-D chess.
A recess appointment is not going to happen, because the Senate is not going to formally recess - the same tactic they used with Obama to prevent a recess appointment to SCOTUS.
Trump can play that game too.
No signature on ANY legislation whatsoever until new AG nominee is considered.
All stop.
