Sources told the Jordanian newspaper Al-Ghad that Jordan will not allow Israeli ambassador Eynat Schlein to return to the country before "guarantees are received" for the prosecution of the security guard who shot two Jordanians to death during an attack on Sunday.
The staff of the Israeli embassy in Jordan, including the security guard, returned to Israel on Monday following negotiations ...

So what is the back story on this?
I missed it and there are no links to earlier stories at the link.
It’s always scary that Jordan is supposed to be the more “moderate” and “reasonable” of Muslim countries!
“So what is the back story on this?”
Two men came into the embassy to assemble some furniture. One of them stabbed the Israeli with a screwdriver. The Israeli shot them both.

Imagine you are the white mayor of a city. A white city cop, who reports to somebody who reports to you shoots a black. The city is ready to explode in riots. That is, more or less, the situation Kind Abdulla is in. (The blacks in this case represent the Palestinian refugees, except they make the BLM crowd look like angry children.) The king is already trouble with them for his dealings with Israel. (Israel supplies fresh water, trade and a host of other smaller services that make life easier in Jordan for everybody.)
If King Abdulla does what the situation apparently demands, nothing, he risks civil unrest that might topple his government. Yes, it is probably that fragile. Recall the Arab Spring. What he doesn’t want to do is flood the street with troops as the situation might rapidly get away from him.
Yeah but it’s full of Palestinians so the Jordanians need to keep them friends.
Sounds like Jordan needs some form of a hard lesson from Israel. Boot the Jordan Ambassador and disappear a few prominent Jordanians.
Jordan has no jurisdiction according to international law.

My guess the Ambassador won't be returning any time soon.
The same Israeli that got stabbed shot the men?
Handy man comes in to work in embassy, stabs guard with screwdriver. Guard shoots and kills his sorry ass. Jordan gets panties bunched.
Was the second man killed also attacking?
Two Jordanians involved in attacking an Israeli security person in Amman, Jordan.
One youth (don’t know if he was a technical assistant to some employer working for the Israelis or not) stabs Israeli with screwdriver. Israeli guard shoots both “attackers” dead.
Jordan, (who is supposed to be an ally of Israel and America), plays the event to the hilt by not letting the Embassy staff leave the premises at the exact timing of tensions on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem which the Arabic “Wakf”, local Muslim religious authority is associated with the Heshemite Kingdom of Jordan.
In other words, intentional escalation to coincide with he Jerusalem rioting.
Don’t forget that American military personnel were murdered by Jordanians last year...with friends like these, who need enemies?
“Thee same Israeli that got stabbed shot the men?”
Stabbed with a screw driver. That’s the way I read it; stabbing victim shoots attacker. I had the same thought. What an incompetent attack it must have been. I think the second guy was the landlord. He, most likely, was in the wrong spot at the wrong time.
In a civilized world that would be true but we are talking about the Middle East and a bunch of 7th Century throwbacks that believe in mutilating women's female parts and having sex with goats.
You would be correct
I’m a bit confused the way the story has been reported. The landlord was accidentally shot and killed just in passing. The Arabic landlord of the Israeli embassy? The Arabic landlord of the guard house? Of the apartment next door or across the street? What gives?
True, but for muslims international law does not count, only sharia does. And in this case a devout muslim was killed by a Jew so that is like the worst crime ever for these people.
The reports are not clear. Would not be surprised if they are only vaguely close to what happened.
If the Israeli guard is tried in a Jordanian court, the verdict will be that he incited the attack upon himself by being a Jew. Hence he had no right to defend himself, and is guilty of murder under Shariah Law.
