As a U.S. Attorney for the Maryland District, he was a leftover from Obama who was previously a leftover from the Bush administration in 2007.

Donald Trump appointed him as the Deputy AG in January 2017.

Then he claimed in his NYT interview last week that he didn't know who he was. LOL.

I don’t think Trump it as he didn’t know the man...I think he meant it as he didn’t know what was inside the man...
