I disagree - Trump is fighting for his political life here and trying to pressure Sessions out.
Loyalty from Session? What loyalty? He’s recused himself and refuses to stop or even block the investigation which continues on as a witch hunt.
Nobody else in the GOP is doing ANYTHING to defend Trump and have gone out of their way to state their allegiance to the uniparty. See Ryan, McConnell and even McCains statements today and the past week.
Is it harsh? Yeah. Is it ugly? Yeah. But this is how you drain the swamp.
LS,
As a former fellow Daytonian, I appreciate your comments here and on Twitter.
Your “24 points on the the 24th” were especially insightful.
However, these newest attacks on Sessions is certainly not 3D chess....esp with Mucci’s comment Session’s position will be resolved “shortly”.
Any additional insight from you or your WH contacts would be appreciated.
When they say he endorsed me, I went to Alabama, Mr. Trump said on Tuesday, recalling the endorsement. I had 40,000 people. He was a senator from Alabama. I won the state by a lot, massive numbers. A lot of the states I won by massive numbers. But he was a senator, he looks at 40,000 people and he probably says, What do I have to lose? And he endorsed me. So its not like a great loyal thing about the endorsement. But Im very disappointed in Jeff Sessions.

Theve lost an election and they came up with this as an excuse, Mr. Trump said. And the only ones that are laughing are the Democrats and the Russians. And if Jeff Sessions didnt recuse himself, we wouldnt even be talking about this subject.
Interesting thread. First one I’ve seen where the majority of respondents actually expressed dismay at President Trump’s actions. Some even calling them “sick”. Is the worm turning?
I honestly want to know what you think after you read this article. Have you turned on Sessions yet?
If that’s true, why had Trump been close to him until now?
Trump’s fashion is street fighting... the elite take offense to that... but from NY, it’s typical... Trump has not taken to the “polite put on” the politicians use. Trump, sitting at his computer at night ... he types out what he thinks.
Just the same, I wish he’d be adult and give the reasons he has lost confidence in Sessions and then let him go. Speak to the public...we’re still out here and we hear you... just talk to us ... this kind of tweet does not help you or your cause!
I think if Sessions had investigated Clinton, the Clinton Foundation, Uranium One, etc etc things would be much better right now, but he has done NOTHING..there is zero investigating, nothing..so what the heck is he doing
Is the headline misleading, or did I miss something. I didn’t see anything about endorsing because of crowds.
This is Romper Room. Geez Mr. President.....grow up. If you don’t like your AG you don’t have to keep him.
Imho, Sessions is short.
5.56mm
I’m waiting on sessions to tweet something like....”trump told me to fire muller. I told him to do it himself. What is he scared of???”
One thing I just came across was a radio interview with a supporter of President Trump saying more needs to be done in this country.
Ted Nugent talked about numerous cases in the country and called the DOJ the “Department of Injustice”.
Nugent included these Oregon and Nevada things like the jailed Bundy’s and the dead LaVoy Finicum.
I don’t see Sessions changing the equation there.
Sessions praised the Nevada US Attorney who got the Second Amendment banned from a trial over the standoff near Bundy Ranch.
He was much more effective in the Senate than he is as AG. The U.S. AG has to kick ass and take names, not be a Southern Gentleman. Like it or not, the AG is a Political appointment. The Democrats have seen to that and AG Sessions just fed the Democrat narrative when he recused himself from the Fake Russian Kabuki Theater.
That being said, President Trump isn't doing himself any favors making public comments about him. Even the Presidents most ardent supporters will be wondering what he has to gain by it.
Sessions is gone. There can be no doubt that the President doesn't want him as AG.
I don't know what the Hell has happened between them, but the notion that this is some kind of strategery between Sessions and President Trump just flew out the window definitively.
Those who are big fans of Jeff Sessions are going to have to face reality. He's out of here, and knowing how loyal Donald Trump is, there just has to be something serious which has come between the two.
I have no idea what it could be, but I would expect Jeff Sessions to resign forthwith. Indeed, if he doesn't, but instead forces the President to fire him, then that's a negative reflection of Sessions' character.
I'm flabbergasted at this development, but it clearly puts the lie to any notion that this was anything other than a bona fide falling out.
I wonder if it was an accumulation of things, or something very specific.
In any event, it won't be the President who's stepping down as a result of this. He's obviously furious about something, or some things.
Who will the next AG be? Any guesses? Because Sessions is gone. He serves at the pleasure of the President, and the President is not pleased...
He Endorsed Me Because of Big Crowds, Not Loyalty
Exactly what I was thinking at the time.
This is hilarious: Sessions will end up resigning, but too late to run to fill his old seat in the Senate!
NONSENSE!
“I didn’t know Sessions cared so much about big crowds.”
He doesn’t. He is an old-school conservative and crowds don’t mean so much to him. Sessions endorsed Trump because of his immigration stance. Sessions had been almost a lone voice on illegal immigration except for Cruz and a few others ... and then along comes Trump talking about building a wall.
