Will a rock star and political neophyte unseat a three-term Democratic Senator from Michigan?
Not long ago such a suggestion might have seemed absurd, but less than a year after a real estate mogul turned reality TV show host won the highest office in the land, celebrity candidates appear increasingly viable as serious competitors.
Earlier this month, rock singer and guitarist Robert Ritchie, better known by his stage name Kid Rock announced his bid for the US Senate seat in his home state of Michigan presently held by three-term Democrat Debbie Stabenow.
The announcement, Ritchie insisted, was not a hoax or publicity stunt, noting his years of political activism in the Republican Party.
Ritchie, whose music fuses heavy metal, rap, and country, has sold some 35 million albums worldwide. He was one of the few prominent members of the entertainment industry to publicly endorse Mitt Romneys 2012 presidential bid, and voiced support for Donald Trump in 2016.
While the Republican primary for the 2018 Michigan Senate race is still a year away, a new poll suggests that if nominated, Ritchie would be very competitive in a head-to-head race with Stabenow.
According to a survey by Delphi Analytica, the 46-year old rock star would defeat the 67-year old incumbent by a margin of 54% to 46% if the election were held today, though a large number of respondents said they were undecided.

Ted was born in Michigan but I don’t know where he lives now.
Wouldn’t it be hysterical if the 2 senators from Michigan were Kid Rock and Ted Nugent!
On the other hand, it’s probably not a good idea to start electing celebrities to office. The left has waaay more celebrities than we do. Probably something like 100 to 1.
But yet the fake news has no issues with an unfunny SNL comedian in the senate...
Because he is a far left wing democrat
I’m very fond of Nugent!
A REAL man!
A real American Patriot!
Remember that Reagan was “just” an actor.....
They could jam in the Senate chamber, instead of filibustering, do ad libbed songs about why this or that bill should be defeated.
As for the left, they don’t do public office, except for the bucktoothed moron, who’s hardly a celebrity. They shoot their mouths off so that the crowd they’re in with think they’re cool, and they stay with their careers and the money.
Ted lives in TX but still owns his ranch in MI, last I heard.
We’ll know if it’s going to be Senator Kid Rock in 5 seconds the first time he has to speak seriously, publicly. If he’s articulate, he’ll destroy her. She’s been in front and center for 25 years of the saddest story of any state.
There was a time years ago that I probably looked down on celebrity politician startups as unqualified and ignorant of the ins and outs of the political machine, and not worth voting for. I gave up that line of thought gradually as I saw good conservatives out there trying to do something about the crazy left. Anyone running as a Republican is much more qualified than anyone running as a Democrat, regardless of whether they have experience in politics or not.
>>Ted was born in Michigan but I dont know where he lives now.
Back in the time of the Amboy Dukes, before he got super big after going solo and doing Wango Tango. I believe he lives in Tennessee now.
Yeah but I would rather have celebrities from the right in office than celebrities from the left. The left is ALL about destroying this country now. They’re so radical now it’s insane and anyway we can get them out of office is fine by me.

What state does Ted Nugent live in?
Near Waco Texas as well he has his ranch in Michigan.
That's news raht thar.
I’d rather have Chuck Norris.

I would say the less political experience, the better. Remember that “experienced” Republican pols tend to be globalists and Prog-lites.
“experienced Republican pol = Jeff Sessions
