In fact the lawsuit was filed in the Cayman Islands in 2008. “In August 2015, Deripaska’s attorneys, using a legal provision allowing U.S. discovery for legal proceedings in foreign courts, asked a federal district court in Virginia to order documents and depositions from Manafort, Gates and Davis.”

I am pretty sure that case was in caymans bankruptcy court. I cannot say with 100% certainty that the order granting discovery in 2015 is not from the bankruptcy court case from 2008.

So I will clarify and be more specific . A case was filed in 2015 in virginia. Discovery motion granted
