There is something more than a little jarring in the ongoing humiliation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
In an ill-timed, ill-focused interview with the NYT, President Trump revisited his disdain for Sessions, his first, most-ardent and most-loyal supporter in the Senate.
When supporting Trump was still considered career suicide, Sessions donned the red cap anyway. Maybe it will prove fatal for Sessions career, after all.
The president has not made a secret of the fact that he blames Sessions for the scandal that now engulfs the Trump administration, claiming in contravention of all available evidence that somehow if Sessions had not recused himself from the investigation into Trumps 2016 campaign that his White House will not be under siege.
How do you take a job and then recuse yourself? Trump asked reporters rhetorically. If he would have recused himself before the job, I would have said, Thanks, Jeff, but Im not going to take you. Its extremely unfair and thats a mild word to the president.
Sessions seems an odd target for Trumps blame, given how other members of his inner circle including his son, his son-in-law, his former campaign chairman and his former national security advisor have all laid the president open to the scrutiny of special counsel Robert Mueller.

Yup
People fooled into thinking there is a Trump/Sessions rift may be emboldened to approach Sessions with “damaging” ammo to use against Trump.
Better to have such in friendly hands. Also reveals sources.
How much of the Medicare/Medicaid scandal where over 400 were just arrested did you know about beforehand???
How can you be sure the same thing is not at this time being done on several other crimes, such as Clinton, Comey, Lynch, Obama????
Complete and thorough investigations have to be done quietly and do take time....
That is the ONLY thing Sessions can do that will give me faith he is actually wanting to fulfill Trump’s best interests.
RESIGN JEFF...let a STRONG MAN take your place!
There are many things that appear to me more serious than the stuff AG Sessions seems to be focusing on. The unmasking of Trump’s people would be good place to start. Going after Comey and Clinton for mishandling classified material should be a no brainer too. He needs to do some of that. Going after the Clinton Crime Foundation would be good too. There is enough corruption there to land lots of rats in serious trouble.
well FRiend, you say
“...inaction...”
i don’t understand that. i see a lot of action on the border, in the FBI, for the working man, against the criminal anarchy groups which threaten’s the foundation of our Republic, even in that leftist bastion the IRS. he was even at the Bundy prosecution which even people here run away from. in fact, i see a lot more action (then i would have expected given that the enemy press (on both sides GOP and dem) has been head hunting Jeff as the left’s public enemy #1, since Trump nominated him. the left fears Sessions even more than they fear Trump, rightly so.
Sessions is a very experienced prosecutor, by trade. he was shunted into the Senate by a leftist witch hunt in AL.
the kind of “action” you want takes a lot on the ground preparation then i’ve see so far. i don’t even know that he isn’t preparing some of the ground under cover.
i can sense your frustration. i can only tell you that i believe Jeff and his President (and mine) are basically in God’s capable hands and are running on His timetable. if Trump survives his 1st year against the uniparty swamp that is out for his head, it’ll probably be in part because of the cool head and experienced (if somewhat slow and plodding) hand of Jeff Sessions.
Perhaps, while no one was watching, he swam to the bottom of the swamp and found that little chain on the drain plug....
Stirewalt is a worthless GIRL!!
Loyalty is a two way street. Sessions should not have recused himself about an investigation where there was absolutely no evidence that there was even a crime. When Sessions recused himself it provided an inference that there was, in fact, an underlying crime and that he was somehow involved in it.
The fact that Sessions is still the AG after throwing Trump under the bus and kick starting the witch hunt shows that Trump is more loyal to Sessions than Sessions is to Trump.
First there is plenty of evidence to indict Hillary for obstruction of justice NOW. But as to your question, a real investigation would involve empaneling a grand jury, calling witnesses and issuing subpoenas, none of which has been done. You just keep on believing though. I know, maybe their just waiting for the second term so they don’t have to worry about reelection! That’s the ticket!
I think Trump one session to resign, rather than fire him. Maybe, sessions hasn’t taken a hit privately, so now Trump is out in public making the same comment. While sessions may have seemed like a perfect candidate, the guy is too old, he has Undermined Trump by recusing himself.
I want Sessions to resign because he intends to turn the fire up on an unwinnable drug war, which dovetails directly with your civil asset forfeiture.
The Drug War has caused more case law detrimental to freedom, particularly in the 4th and 2nd Amendment than any other source.
“Complete and thorough investigations have to be done quietly and do take time....”
Yeah, just see how “quietly” the “thorough investigation” of Trump is going on under Mueller.
OK...I will....
“Loyal supporter” my ass.
He recused himself because of the media based on fake news! he is too cordial to be AG Trump needs a shark."
I agree 1,000% with Ground_Fog.
I agree completely.
Nonsense. Pre-arranged, kabuki.
And it’s working perfectly, judging by the people buying into it.
