Never has so much ignorance been rendered on such a great feat by so few.
Such is the historical record of reviewers of the new movie, "Dunkirk."
First, a brief historical primer. Dunkirk was the site of the British Army's evacuation from northern France in May-June 1940. The evacuation was made necessary after the British Army in France, deployed as the British Expeditionary Force, was encircled by a rapidly advancing German army. Thanks to the immense courage of rearguard forces, RAF pilots, and British civilians (who lent their boats to the effort), 200,000 British soldiers and 140,000 French, Belgian and Polish soldiers were saved from capture.
Now to the reviews...
At USA Today, Brian Truitt laments "the fact that there are only a couple of women and no lead actors of color." This, Truitt explains, "may rub some the wrong way."
Let me be clear. The "some" that might be offended are the same "some" that attempt to swim with polar bears and saltwater crocodiles. The Washington Free Beacon's Alex Griswold beat me to it, explaining

Should I go see it?
By all means, let’s rewrite history to make it more palatable to PC tastes. Maybe we can make Churchill black. And Montgomery can be recast as a homo. And all the citizens who lent their boats and labor to the rescue were muslime refugees.
To hell with Truth ...
Well it was OK to replace white historical figures in “Hamilton” with people of color so anything is fair game at this point. But did they complain about the movie “Downfall” about Hitler’s last days being too white?
They’ll probably do a remake with a lesbian female Eskimo as the lead and the battle being fought with rocks and spears to appease Mothers against everything.
Of course the left wants to re-write history. The truth is that the BEF, RAF and RN were composed almost exclusively of white heterosexual males, because they were defending the most advanced and prosperous civilization the world has ever known, which was built almost exclusively by white heterosexual males. The irony is that they were defending that civilization from a mutated branch of that civilization that was also composed almost exclusively by white heterosexual males.
If the left wants to see a war movie featuring a number of “people of color” I suggest they watch “Zulu.”
There were rumors that recasting was not necessary.
This isn't about rewriting movies to make them PC. As far as the Left is concerned, if a film can't glorify the achievements of people of color, LGBT, women, and other marginalized groups, then it shouldn't be made at all.
It's isn't the lack of minorities in Dunkirk that upsets reviewers. It's that this film about the heroics of white men was made in the first place.
Good God...
What amazes is how these cretins still fancy themselves as the "bright" ones.
> The truth is that the BEF, RAF and RN were composed almost exclusively of white heterosexual males,
They were Brits. I’d soft-pedal the “heterosexual” part.
Zulu. Excellent movie.
One of my favorites.....
One of my favorite “feel good” movies, right up there with Black Hawk Down.
Liberal/progressive types demand that all of history be overlaid with their own biased world view no matter how it alters history. In fact, that is exactly the goal: going forward with a different history.
Which is why it must be polluted with PC revisions and po-mo garbage: to diminish the real-world heroics of a disfavored class.
If it were anyone else, I'd be embarrassed for them. However, it's THEM. I just sneer and turn the page. Want to see the movie, if it wouldn't actually serve to encourage these leeches.
“lets rewrite history to make it more palatable to PC tastes”
Howard Zinn, fake history creator supreme, was among a whole crowd that have flushed historical fact down the drain of political manipulation.
