Two more GOP senators defect on healthcare bill [Repeal Dead]

GOP Sens. Jerry Moran (Kansas) and Mike Lee (Utah) announced on Monday night they will not support taking up a bill repealing and replacing ObamaCare, effectively blocking the legislation.

"This closed-door process has yielded the [bill], which fails to repeal the Affordable Care Act or address healthcare’s rising costs. For the same reasons I could not support the previous version of this bill, I cannot support this one," Moran said in a statement.

Lee added on Twitter that "my colleague @JerryMoran and I will not support the MTP to this version of BCRA."

How 'bout a straight repeal?

The only way. First we have to get rid of McConnell. This worthless skunk will not go back to a real Constitutional rule that allows 51 majority. Second we have to dump at least 10 or more Senate Republicans with replacement. Then we have a chance. President Trump wants total repeal and replacement.

Yeah, why not just put forward all of those same "repeal" bills they passed when 0Commie was pResident?

Because these snakes (led by vipers Midge and Eddie Munster) don't actually want the d@#n thing repealed. Too much goody in it, FOR THEM 😡

Maybe what we need to do is start buying insurance from other countries since it’s obvious the lobbiests are getting their way with everything. Maybe we should see if we can get along without them. Maybe the greedy ba$@&%#* need to just go bankrupt

A straight repeal should be easy, but the Rino Repubs are determined to continue as the opposition party even though their candidate won.

We are bouncing down the plinko board toward what is looking like the inevitable destination - Medicare for all. It will have to be a gutted version of Medicare, because remember, we’re broke.

As someone who’s about to transition to Medicare, I just figure that is my typical luck.

That’s where I’m at. The US Govt. should not be in the business of healthcare at all, period. I don’t care if they pass laws and regulate it but nationalizing it and running it is wrong. Look at how screwed-up the VA is. Want the entire healthcare system to be like that? The bill needs to be what they campaigned on: straight repeal and nothing else. Substituting a horrible system for one that’s a little less horrid, and with a big Republican ‘R’ stamped on it, is a travesty and shouldn’t pass.

“No Republican voted for Obamacare. “

Sure, if you insist.

However, I have it on good authority that they voted to fund it, by large majorities, 6 separate times.

All President Trump has to do to get things ‘moving’ is to enforce antitrust law against the ENTIRE medical industry. That action needs no Congressional approval, the industry according to previous SC rulings is NOT immune from such law, and the potential to drastically reduce healthcare costs(and healthcare insurance cost) from such legal action is immense. And for those who don’t believe this would be important, why did Rand Paul include antitrust protection for the medical industry within his proposed healthcare legislation??

“Single payer. The fight is going to be over the size and shape of the private option”

I agree. The dirty little secret that people aren’t, but should, be talking about is the GOP is bought and for by the US Chamber of Commerce. Their goal is to eliminate employer-paid health insurance, even though the dastardly, bastardly GOP swamp-sucking congresscritters won’t admit it to it.

I also believe that Trump would support single payer in whatever form. He wants a deal and I believe him when he says he wants everyone to have great health care. Single payer health insurance would be a disaster, but I’m not sure he thinks so.

Something doesn’t smell right. Could Lee and Moran be working with McConnell by witholding support until the last minute simply to deter other Repubs from jumping ship?

Or maybe I just lived too long inside the Beltway.

“I think straight out repeal requires 60 senators to approve.”

Only because McDouchebag won’t change the rules. There is no Constitutional stricture on anything more than a simply majority vote. The vote I’d like to have is the one that completely eliminates the US Senate, period. Giving these feckless turds six years in office, gives them far too much cover from the voters wrath.

Our Congressional leaders have to sniff around to uncover some hidden wisdom to justify not doing the logical thing.
*********************************
How about the fact that the Constitution does not give the Federal gov’t. the authority to dictate health care OR insurance.

Absolutely...a straight Obamacare repeal with no Democrat votes or participation allowed. This vote should occur today!!!

And.....Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan must be immediately replaced by the GOP Congress, IMMEDIATELY, or, POTUS, Trump should force the both of them to submit their resignations today!!! These low life failures, incompetents must go!!! They have failed the POTUS, GOP, the country and the American people!!!

It would be tragic to lose the house and senate in 2018.

Me thinks one of these days people are going to have this revelation and realize that elections will not fix what is broke with our republic.

Full repeal, or let Obamacare crash and burn.

Yes and if they cannot get that then on to other business. They need to go to the podium and say we cannot get full repeal to save it because of the Democrats will not work with us and it is going to implode. Then explain we are moving on to other important business.

DO NOT LOOK BACK until enough rats come off the sinking ship for FULL REPEAL.

"We had not expected a Donald Trump win, and were not prepared to actually do this legislation"

-Pat Toomey, The jackass being at least honest.

Yep - pretty much said what we already knew - ll the previous 'attempts to repeal ObamaCare" were just bluster to show the voters they were "serious", but they change their tune when they actually have an opportunity to fulfill their promises. Toomey is being honest about the dishonesty of the whole lot of them.

"They would rather lose control of congress than govern. Just give them their cut of the deals going through, let them put up a token opposition now and again as election time approaches and leave them to their country-club."

So true and becoming obvious to more and more people. The elections look like Potemkin Village exercises to placate the voters, but then it is back to business as usual. The GOPe could throw the elections in 2018 and lose the House and the Senate. Then it would be on to impeachment so the uniparty could get rid of Trump who is really a third party disrupter.
