Illegal. Article I, Section 9: "No tax or duty shall be laid on articles exported from any state."

The companies that sell these commodities to customers, here and abroad, pay taxes on their profitable income. I can see how you got confused, though.

How do the energy exporting states get away with the taxes they place on energy leaving the state?
